arma virumque cano (et alia)
There's been a string of robberies, likely by the same two thugs. No more, though. Look at your statement: If he'd just given them the money, the two goblins would still be alive. How long would it be before those two moved up to murder?Mikeb, you need to decide whose side you're on. Do you care more about good citizens or thugs? I suspect that I already know the answer.
They weren't "goblins." They were human beings. Killing human beings is wrong when it can be avoided.
Consider the origin of the orcs in The Lord of the Rings. They were once elves, but they gave themselves over to evil. These two robbers were goblins. Now, they aren't any more. No one forced them to make the choices that they made, but the store clerk has made sure that they won't make bad choices again. He may have saved the lives of others, since thugs who commit armed robbery often move up to murdering the people that they rob.
Sounds like two counts of murder 2.
mikeb said..."I say the store clerk should have given the thieves the money. He probably wouldn't have been beat upYes, that's right mike, just let them have what they want, that'll teach those thugs not to rob again and make the world a better place.Committing a violent act upon an innocent person should be the most dangerous thing a person ever contemplates doing. TS, this would be a 1st degree murder. 1st degree murder isn't always premeditated, but also if a homicide occurs during the commission of another felony. The NC statute includes armed robbery/attempted armed robbery as one of those underlying felonies, so the getaway driver can face the death penalty. You can find the NC statute under Subchapter III, Article 6 section 14-17
Mike doesn't care about stopping criminals.....just about disarming citizens who follow the law.
Not true. But people who do have guns should use them responsibly.
This was a responsible use. The clerk prevented the two thugs from committing a murder that day and potentially committing murders until they were killed or imprisoned. Interesting side note, neither one of the brothers apparently had a criminal history, it seems their first career choice was armed robber.
How is this not using a gun responsibly? Criminal was shot committing a crime. I know, any DGU is too much according to you and the rest of the anti self-defense crowd. We should all put down our sidearms and give in to rape, robbery, and murder like to criminals want. Gun control and disarming the victims is all you are about Mike.
Scott, I post the occasional legit DGU story, it's just that they're few and far between. On the other hand I could spend all day literally posting stories of the misuse of guns. So, no, I don't feel that "any DGU is too much."I don't want ALL of you to put down your guns, only the ones of you who are unfit and irresponsible. Why does that worry you so much you have to keep lying about what I'm about?
