George Zimmerman's wife arrested for perjury in the Trayvon Martin case bail hearing

So we have what appears to be 'Mr. Liar' being joined by Mrs. Liar in trouble with the law, compounding the shooting of an innocent kid with being untruthful in court. Like the Jack Spratt and his missus who divided up fat and lean in their diet, the Zimmermans divide lying by ommission for Mr. Liar, with lying by commission for Mrs. Liar.

Shellie Zimmerman, the wife of the man who shot teenager Trayvon Martin in Florida, has been charged with perjury.

She knowingly made false statements about the couple's finances during an April bail hearing, said an order issued by assistant state attorney John Guy.

Her husband, George, was later released on $150,000 (£96,000) bail.

Mr Zimmerman is now back in jail, charged with the second-degree murder of unarmed black teenager Mr Martin.

He claims he shot the 17-year-old in self-defence.

Mr Zimmerman was freed in late April on payment of 10% of the bail amount.

But the bail was revoked in early June after prosecutors argued that he had lied about their finances - and particularly about proceeds raised from a campaign website - to get a lower bail.

At the time, the judge said Mr Zimmerman had a responsibility to prevent his wife, who testified at one hearing, and his lawyer from making statements they did not know were false.

But Mrs Zimmerman has now been charged with knowingly making false statements during the April hearing.

Mr Zimmerman's lawyers have referred to the episode as a "mistake". He will face another bail hearing on 29 June.

The Trayvon Martin case has stoked racial tension in the United States, correspondents say.

Florida police did not arrest Mr Zimmerman for six weeks after the shooting. Under the state's controversial "stand your ground" law the use of lethal force is allowed if a person feels seriously under threat.

  2. So now you're on about bail terms? I thought this was about guns and gun violence. Of course, when Zimmerman is found not guilty, we're all going to have a good laugh at your expense.

  3. No, now we're on about mr and mrs not-really so law abiding citizens both being liars who demonstrate perfectly why people like them should never have ha guns in the first place. Further, it demonstrates YOUR evident lack of critical thinking, that so long as someone is pro gun, you don't care what kind of lying sleeze they are.

You'll just stick your fingers in your ears, and go skiping off, going la la la la laa, prattling on about the inherent goodness of the killer of an unarmed ten who was shot while minding his own business by a lying gun nut and is lying gun nut wife wife. Ooops! I left out racist!!!

    1. You seem to have sources of information that the rest of us don't have access to. What I've seen is that Martin doubled back to attack Zimmerman. Funny how you ignore that.

@ dog gone - by your reasoning in the other thread, if Zimmerman had a badge and worked for the government then all of his action would be justified. Correct?

    1. I'm quite sure that lying if you had a badge and worked for the government is not legal.

If Zimmerman had a badge, he would be held MORE accountable than George Zimmerman had to date for the shooting of Trayvon Martin. It would not be a legitimate shooting for no other reason than suspicion had Zimmerman had a badge, but it WOULD - and here is the KEY difference, pay attention large Randy, it would have been legitimate for someone with a uniform and a badge and in radio contact with police to follow and stop Trayvon Martin where it was not for Zimmerman.

THAT is the key difference between a vigilante like Georgie boy and law enforcement. LEOs can legally stop you, because of the difference in authority and accountability compared to Zimmerman stalking and harassing Martin.

Racial profiling, racial prejudice by law enforcement is wrong - but we have ways of holding law enforcement accountable for that. We have no reason to believe that Martin would have run away from or tried to defend himself from someone who had the authority to stop him.

It would have been a very different scenario, you are asking for a comparison of apples and oranges.

"I'm quite sure that lying if you had a badge and worked for the government is not legal." What are you talking about? The government lies to us all the time. It's a matter of course, pattern, and practice. Look at all of these dupes that can barely spell their own name that get entrapped by the government and then paraded around as terrorist masterminds. *looks at shoe bomber*. I bet you are one of those people who thinks that things like minimum wage laws and Obamacare ISN'T supported by big business. Or that the illicit drug trade isn't run by the mafia that is our government. Come on, you are in denial. But I digress.

So what you are saying is that any interaction prior to the physical altercation between Zimmerman and Martin was unlawful since Zimmerman wasn't a police officer. You are proving my point.

  5. I'm pretty sure Dog Gone would have been happy to string up the Duke LaCrosse team without a trial, based on her racial prejudice.

I see you havent gotten any smarter Orlin, or any better at basic logic or reason have you? No.

    2. I know you can't judge a book my its cover, but Zimmerman and his old lady look like low-rent, (semi)-white-trash people who were not-so-hidden criminals.

They're both where they belong right now.

The amazing thing is that you gun-rights folks don't distance yourselves from them as if from the plague. You guys are so blinded by your bias that you don't realize what pitiful poster children these two make.

Haven’t you learned the dangers of racial profiling from this story?
