President Obama: Fear is Good for Business

16 comments:

  1. Here's Obama's jobs program. Gun manufacturers are doing booming business. He tells blatant lies about believing in the Second Amendment. He tells blatant lies about the intention of the gun control forces.

The good news is that the more guns and gun owners there are in this country, the harder it would be to achieve the aims of the gun control freaks.

    1. The problem is that if a lie is repeated often enough, by the right people and with enough conviction many will accept it as true even though it is contradicted by the weight of the available evidence.

    2. Yeah, like more guns means less crime. On the other hand there were no lies in what Obama said.

    3. You cannot believe in the Second Amendment and support it while simultaneously advocating for gun control. Obama's either a liar or insane on that point.

  2. It is profoundly disrespectful of those who buy guns to suggest they are so ignorant, so easily swayed, that they've been led into fearful purchasing based upon manipulation by the NRA and others. The alternative, that gun owners see sufficient cause to be truly concerned, is anathema to those who propose more gun control legislation. I would be remiss to not mention the irony of a politician, any politician, of any party, decrying what he or she sees as the attempted manipulation of the public or any portion thereof.

    1. Respect must be earned. You losers don't get respect for your stupidity, your clueless paranoia, your continual lies.

You're basically a bunch of pussies who need a weapon to convince yourself that you are a man/woman. I'm a man. I don't need a weapon. You do need a weapon. You're just a pathetic cripple without one.

It's kind of amazing. Pathetic if it were not so damaging for society.

    2. So I'm the pussy who hides behind a gun, well guess what. Your the pussy bitch who hides behind some one with a gun. Can you show a gun law that has reduced crime? The FBI and BJS support our side. Pussy's like you are what's wrong with this country, if you don't like guns get the fuck out.

    3. I agree with Anonymous although I would try to express it differently. Many gun owners, perhaps most, are motivated by fear and insecurity. The funny part is that most of them really have no need for a gun, they're responding to fantasies of attack and self defense. Most people who are secure and mentally healthy do not find it necessary to own guns. Anonymous is exactly right about that.

    4. RT, I don't think it's profoundly disrespectful. I think it's true and maybe you feel embarrassed by the fact. Please note, most people on your side of the argument believe this is the case too.

    5. Mikeb, you keep trotting out that line about how we're insecure or afraid, so we buy guns. Care to prove that assertion? How you feel about something isn't proof, by the way.

  3. Mike, feelings do not constitute proof. As for your other comments, please, I suspect you are capable of better argumentation than that. So please, give me the benefit of that better argumentation.

    1. Is that your best, a passive-aggressive put-down?

  4. Tell you what, Mike. Since you feel qualified to provide what are essentially diagnoses of the mental and emotional status of firearms owners and, since I disagree with those diagnoses, let's compare educational, training and clinical experience credentials, shall we? It's your blog, so feel free to go first. I'll wait.

    1. You keep waiting with your silly, "my daddy can beat up your daddy" bullshit.

    2. No, Mike. That's not what I was doing. I was suggesting, that in the absence of evidence to suggest otherwise, you lack the insight, training, education, experience or exposure to and honest conversations with a sufficient number of gun owners who disagree with you to justify your comments. In the absence of these, your baseless speculation about the mental and emotional state of those who disagree with you is just that...baseless speculation and nothing more. This tendency to demonize and mock your opponents is unfortunate. Perhaps you truly believe this is an adequate substitute for a reasoned argument. I don't know. I do know that some people on both sides do it and it's sad that so many people think the purpose of debate is to "win" rather than explain, understand and perhaps persuade. And then they congratulate themselves, as if they accomplished some great thing by virtue of being insulting, rude or even dishonest when in fact all they've done is help make sure there will be no agreement between sides. The desire to "win" like this helps ensure the two sides move ever further apart.
