More on Jimmy Lee Dykes

Michael Creel said Dykes kept to himself and listened to a lot of conservative talk radio.

"He was very into what's going on with the nation and the politics and all the laws being made. The things he didn't agree with, he would ventilate," he said.

James Arrington, police chief of the neighboring town of Pinckard, put it differently.

"He's against the government, starting with Obama on down," he said.

  1. He is the natural result of the NRA, the rightwing wack thinking, and the general insanity of any gun owner. But he is not alone. All NRA members share some of this insanity.

  2. At least he doesn't have to worry about Obama coming to get his guns anymore.

  3. This man firstly is a Vietnam vet and because of the lies and bull that surrounded that war was not given the care he needed when he returned. The seeds of his paronia probably stem from the 90s the seige at Ruby Ridge and Waco which sparked these issues probably sparked the natural distrust of being hung out to dry as they say after the Vietnam war not to mention the way the liberal protestors treated solidears as they returned from that war obviously made this man unstable.

However this culture of governmental distrust is not brought on by the NRA or the republicans because it is so far right there mistrust of the government goes throw clinton, Bush and now on to Obama and after Obama it will continue onto the next president. Please actually read up on these issues before you start flapping your gums it makes you look like an idiot.

  4. Anonymous, you don't know if any of that crap is true.

You know nothing about Dyke's personal status or problems, you haven't seen his medical records, you don't know what care he needed or received.

What we do know is that like Charlie Wilson in Washington state, who was a big fan of Glenn Beck and Fox/Fake news, he bought into the notion he had to take up a gun against the government. In the case of Wilson, he was convicted of making felony threats against the two women Senators, both Democrats, from Washington, and showing up at a tea party protest against one of them with his gun - for which he had a permit. He was stupid enough to spill his guts to an FBI agent, and got put behind bars.

This guy Dykes made it clear he wanted attention, if you read the local news stories. He kept demanding a reporter and full camera crew be provided to him.

When he was clearly at a tipping point, as determined by his walking in circles, no longer coherent in answering questions asked by negotiators, and was seen by the tiny camera they had on him to be brandishing a gun at the kid he took hostage, they got him to the hatch of his bunker with the offer of a video camera to record his own statement for the news media.

That was when they jumped him, that was why they jumped him. He was just one more right wing nut gun crazy fanatic. So apparently in a more affluent way was Nancy Lanza a surivalist gun nut.

This man was unstable because of his choices. His distrust of our government was crazy, and you are the one who looks like an idiot, quite possibly as unraveled fringe thinking as Dykes or Timothy McVeigh.

Ruby Ridge was about a guy who hung around with white supremacists who wanted to annex the Pacific Northwestern states to form their own white nation, and who killed a federal agent.

Waco was a bunch of cult crazies who did horrible things to women and children, who were accumulating illegal weapons. These are neither of them examples of people you should be defending. They were bad people.

Dykes was a mean, nasty man who died because he did a terrible thing, a man who should never have had a gun in the first place.

    Stop blaming everyone BUT Dykes.
