California Gun Range Manager Arrested for Being Felon with Gun

Normally I would consider this one a close call.  Stealing a car is not really the kind of felony I would consider as a disqualifier for gun rights.  But, in this case the guy was 30 years old when he did it. It wasn't some teenage prank. What is a 30-year-old man doing stealing cars?
I'm guessing there's a bit more to his criminal past than stealing a car and later on possessing a gun illegally.
What do you think?

  1. Convictions are public record--you could check on that, but then you might not find anything, so it's a much better plan to just suggest and imply.

  2. Mike,
Car theft is big business. There are likely a few people in there over 30 who do it for a living. Perhaps while Mr. Holder is looking into fixing the problem with unfair penalties for drug crimes, we should take a look at the rules that govern who a prohibited person.
Mike has often suggested that persons who commit nonviolent crime shouldn't lose their rights, perhaps we should look at that. After restitution is made, a person has paid his debt so to speak, and starts fresh.

    1. Sarge,

Holder isn't looking into fixing the problem. He wants to keep the law on the book and have the option of using it whenever he wants to. All he's looking at doing is undercharging in many cases. This way, he has even more leverage to get concessions from defendants: "Play ball, or we'll charge you under the mandatory minimum statute and give you 10 years. Cooperate and we might just charge you with simple possession and we'll cut you loose with time served . . . if you do enough favors for us."

    3. You mean another thing that you're lying to us about until it becomes convenient to tell us your true intentions?

    4. How is that throwing me a bone? I don't steal cars.

    5. 1. Throwing a bone at me, if you're doing it close enough to where I am, is a lethal threat.

      2. How is this supposed to be doing us a favor?

      3. What right do you have to be granting royal favors in the first place?

  3. It's like this.

I have no problem with suppressors.
I think white collar felons should keep their gun rights.
I figure about half of you lawful gun owners are responsible enough.

My true intentions are all over these pages, T. And I'm not the fanatic and extremist - emphasis on "I'm."

    1. Mikeb, the nonsense is so strong with you that we simply don't believe anything you say. But yes, you're a fanatic against rights. If any of us are fanatics, that's because we favor rights. I'm comfortable with that.
