Two males are injured, one critically, after their family member accidentally shot them with one bullet.
At 1:20 p.m. Sunday, Shawnee County Sheriffs Department received a call of a shooting at 7610 SE Highway 40 in a field.
Police told 13 News that a man was in a field near a trailer when he accidentally shot two of his male family members.
Police say the males suffered with leg wounds and were transported to the hospital.
Police say the man shooting didn't know the weapon was loaded.
You think there'll be charges in this case? I don't. But there certainly should be. Violating the Gun Safety Rule number one should be a criminal offense. Or, let's say, violating Safety Rule number one should be a criminal offense when someone gets hurt or killed as a result.
How's that sound? Is that too tough a standard to live up to?

It's so cute how you adopt Jeff Cooper's ideas when they're convenient to you, but reject most of what he had to say.
ReplyDeleteThat's probably true. I'm sure the guy's ideas about guns would be too fanatical for my taste. But he did have the safety part right. You're the one who accepts one part and rejects the other. You want people to be "free" to violate the most commons sense safety ideas.
DeleteCooper insisted on the basic right of good citizens to have and carry firearms. He offered techniques to improve their use. His core philosophy was one of individual responsibility.
DeleteAnd here's where you continually lie about me. I have no problem with punishing those who cause harm to innocent persons. I simply don't want the government to swoop in every time someone puts a round in the floorboards or drops a gun. I don't want someone arrested without an investigation. And I want punishments to be in proportion to the harm done.
So here's the question: Have you actually read Cooper's writings, or did you do your typically superficial digging about for one cherry picked out of the orchard?
The only thing I've ever read of his is the 5 Safety Rules.
DeleteYou can't tell the truth even when you want to. Your bizarre claim that you "have no problem with punishing those who cause harm to innocent persons," is disproven daily by your ridiculous reactions to stories I post.
Disagreeing with your disregard of procedure and your proposed penalties does not mean that people do not want to see proper procedure followed and what they see as proper penalties imposed.
DeleteStop acting like everyone who disagrees with you on any point is a bloodthirsty maniac who doesn't want to see the irresponsible held accountable; it's too reminiscent of teenage drama queens.
