1. The more places we allow guns, the more places we're going to see shootings - the kind that are done by law abiding gun owners who suddenly stop being law abiding. These would far outweigh the relatively rare mass shootings we now have at gun-free locations.
2. Contrary to the popular pro-gun lie, mass shooters do not seek out gun-free zones for the target-rich environment. Almost every single one of these guys simply goes to the place of their grievance.
I thought you said you're not against carry anymore than ownership? But here you are saying the more gun free zones, the better.
ReplyDeleteI thought you said you weren't going to continually search for gotchas.
DeleteHere's your opportunity for a gotcha. When did I say that?
DeleteI was just hoping and trying a little psychological projection on ya. Guess it didn't work, huh?
Delete1. Whole states used to be effectively gun-free zones in public. Now they've gone shall-issue, and nothing of the kind happened.
ReplyDelete2. When are you going to get the message that while wackos target places for any number of reasons, gun-free zones disarm good people?
+1 Greg.
DeleteAdditionally, Mike, where are all these numerous shootings where a lawful gun owner is walking down the street, carrying like he does every day, and then suddenly snaps and starts shooting?
That's just not true. We did not have 30,000 gun shot deaths a year back when the public was effectively gun free zones. Gun crimes, injuries, killings, and abuses were not as high as they are now. Take a look at the numbers from the 1950', 1960's 1970's and on. The numbers have been steadily growing. It's not a matter of trying to prove gun owners are bad, it's just a fact that the more of anything brings more abuses of that thing. For our discussion guns. But we see the same increase of abuses with the increase of the number of cars, the increase of the availability of drugs brought more drug abuses, even the increase of bad food has brought on abuses of food that cause obesity and the fastest growing disease of our day diabetes. Unchecked increase of anything brings on abuses and injuries of those things. When we understand that, we can make regulations that curb abuses, like drunk driving, or even curbing sports injuries by regulating safety gear like helmets. To say safe storage for guns is an infringement on your rights is ridiculous, or that it won't stop kids from killing themselves and others because it was so easy to find their parents gun in a drawer, or under the bed and pick it up and kill themselves, is just being dumb. Regulations have saved lives in every aspect of life and the products we expose ourselves to, and guns are no exception. Guns are a more direct deadly source than any I mentioned and are the only product whose intended use, is to kill. Now start with your laughing and justify your protest against the simplest regulations that don't infringe on your right, but would save lives.
DeleteGreg and Simon, are you guys forgetting about the Chicago permit holder who got busted? It didn't take long.
DeleteMikeb goes for the hasty generalization once again, and Anonymous tells blatant lies. Typical day at this blog.
DeleteWe know from experience on this blog that whenever GC is proven wrong, or lying, or has no rational response, he responds with insults. Thanks for proving me correct GC.
DeleteWhen are you going to realize that there is NO such thing as a gun free zone. None, nada, zip, period. Heck Mike you post numerous examples of just that, people getting caught in gun free zones, like the mayor for example. Politicians and criminals violate them all the time.
