Since I can catch that this is (a very good) parody of Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin (amongst other French cultural references lately). And, this seems appropriate given that 'Allo 'Allo was a soft porn parody of Secret Army (I'll confess that I watched episodes of 'Allo Allo after watching Secret Army since SA is pretty heavy stuff).
Anyway, here is the original, which sounds like the soundtrack to a porn film (and if you are at all familiar with Serge Gainsbourg, you know he did some seriously weird shit).
With that, I'll leave you to enjoy steak frites and a glass of vin rouge.
No one ever came close to being able to parody Gainsbourg as well as Gainsbourg did to himself. He was the ultimate subversive genius. His reggae version of La Marseillaise is still creating the controversy he intended decades after he recorded it. If you ever want to get a taste of what he was capable of, do a search for his appearance on MIchel Druckers show with Whitney Houston...it's in French, but that's not a problem. Jazz? Reggae? Heavy Metal? Stupid Pop? He did it all, better than anyone else with out really caring where the shit landed after he tossed it into the fan. Better yet, check out the video of France Gall's huge 1966 pop hit Les Sucettes...he wrote it, directed it and it made her a star and she still claims she had no idea of what he was really doing.
ReplyDeleteThere is only one way someone can be familiar with porno flick music, especially THAT familiar. lol
