Florida Woman Killed in Accidental Shooting - Boyfriend Arrested Immediately

Edison Garcia-Muniz

Local news reports with video

Deputies said the victim's longterm boyfriend, 33-year-old Edison Garcia-Muniz, was at Shiflet's house, and they were handling his gun when it went off. Garcia-Muniz has been charged with manslaughter.
"He indicated that he didn't know it was loaded at the time. He's been very cooperative with us at this point," said sheriff's office spokeswoman Kim Cannaday.
Let's see, what could account for the immediate arrest?
1. being Hispanic
2. long braided hair
3. neck and facial tattoos
4. not being in Texas where they have the amazing 7-day-rule

  1. It wouldn't have applied even if it happened in Texas Mike. I wonder what his record looks like considering the gang tat.

    1. You beat me to it, SSG. The "amazing" Texas law would have been irrelevant, given the fact that neither the shooter nor the victim were children.

    2. Wait a minute. The Famous Texas law is only about accidental kid shootings?

By the way, what was your explanation about how it makes sense?

    3. The . . . Texas law is only about accidental kid shootings?

      Yes, Mikeb:

If the negligent person is a member of the family of the child who discharged the firearm, and the child was killed or seriously injured, an arrest cannot be made until seven days after the offense was committed.

What's your problem now--the law is too narrowly tailored for you?

By the way, what was your explanation about how it makes sense?

I can't tell to whom your question is addressed, but you could just read the damned comment thread again if you're that curious. You're welcome.

    4. It only applies to cases of improper storage. My guess is the intent is to give the parent time to attend to the child/children involved.

    5. Yeah, I forgot about that if you told me before. That is pretty restrictive and does make some sense.

  2. This is obviously more racist white cops who are not shouldering their fair share of the white guilt imposed by a progressive society ...If he was European-American they would have taken him to Chuck E Cheese for a pizza party and then driven him to the gun store to replace the ammo he used on her.. right Mike?

He just happens to appear to be more "all for immediate arrest," MBIAC, if the accused is white.

    3. Then Mike please explain why you believe him being Hispanic is the cause for the quick arrest. If you believe all people in these situations should be arrested quickly as I know and believe you do then how is this guys ethnicity germane to the conversation without implying the cop were racists

    4. These gun loon idiots will say anything for that "gotcha" point. They think they won the point, but their total illogical and dishonest statement only proves what liars they are.

What? Are you not paying attention? I think Hispanic people with tattoos on their faces are likely to be locked up faster than white guys given the same circumstances. In fact, I post examples of these things almost every day.
