So, which side really enables the gun violence?

Points 7 & 8 in this blog post by Kristin A. Goss and Philip J. Cook seem to be the pretty important to this meme:
7. The primary goal of gun regulation is to save lives by separating guns and violence. Federal and state laws regulate who is allowed to possess them, the circumstances under which they can be carried and discharged in public, certain design features, the record-keeping required when they are transferred, and the penalties for criminal use. The goal is to make it less likely that criminal assailants will use a gun. The evidence is clear that some of these regulations are effective and do save lives.

8. Gun violence can also be reduced by reducing overall violence rates. Gun violence represents the intersection of guns and violence. Effective action to strengthen our mental health, education, and criminal justice systems would reduce intentional violence rates across the board, including gun violence (both suicide and criminal assault). But there is no sense in the assertion that we should combat the causes of violence instead of regulating guns. The two approaches are quite distinct and both important.
Perhaps, a better term for the movement should be the "gun regulation" movement, especially since the first words in the  Second Amendment are; "A well-regulated".

Michael Dunn's neighbour talks about him

Michael Dunn's Neighbour talks about him.  Are you really sure you want people like him walking armed on the street?

It makes sense that he would use the "get away with murder" laws to kill someone

Here the neighbour confirms his identity:

Any luck the jurors will find him GUILTY! GUILTY! GUILTY!

I hope his taking a chance on a jury will backfire on him,

Rhode Island Attorney Denied Renewal of Concealed Carry Permit Illegally Records Police

Top Photo

Portsmouth resident, attorney Randall Pratt, appears in Seabrook Circuit Court on Thursday to ask a judge to overrule the Portsmouth Police Department's denial of his conceal-carry license, to penalize the police chief and to order the Police Department to reimburse him for his legal costs. Attorney Randall was asked to turn over a tablet computer with an unauthorized recording of a conversation with Capt. Mike Schwartz.

New Concealed Carry Law in Illinois Raises Questions

Lake Forest Deputy Police Chief Karl Walldorf told a League of Women Voters forum on the new concealed carry law in Illinois that officers are being trained on how and when to ask whether individuals have weapons and what to do about violations.
"A permit person is not required to tell us they have a gun unless we ask," he said at last week's event. "We're going to be training the officers to always ask drivers if they're armed."
Walldorf said state police still are determining several administrative elements of the law that was passed in July and takes effect in January, including how police will be notified of a violator and local law enforcement's ability to object to a person's application to carry.
Whether concealed carry permit holders are required to tell the cops they have a gun or not is a good question. I think this is required in some states, most even, but I always thought it was more a common sense thing.  Wouldn't telling them you're carrying legally be the best way of avoiding misunderstandings?

What about Illinois?

I'm surprised that Mike didn't mention Illinois governor vetoing parts of concealed carry gun bill saying "This is a flawed bill with serious safety problems that must be addressed".

Of course, I think that Illinois should have taken this up on appeal since the court said that "the majority of the 19th-century courts to consider the question held that prohibitions on carrying concealed weapons were lawful under the Second Amendment or state analogues".

Not to mention that the "may issue" laws were proposed by the same organisations which are trying to introduce the more permissive laws back in the 20s and 30s.

In the days when they had no problem with the Second Amendment and gun control...

I bet you lot love eating raw prawns--you certainly seem to be fed them quite a bit by your leaders.

And you call US "sheeple".

Concealed Carry in Maine

Kennebec Journal

If you want a concealed-weapons permit from the Maine State Police, be ready to wait three or four months. There’s a 2,500-application backlog.

As gun sales nationwide and in Maine have skyrocketed in recent years, so has permit demand, said Lt. Scott Ireland, who runs the state police’s licensing division, which handles permit applications for more than 300 small, rural municipalities, along with unorganized territories and townships. Larger cities and towns handle their own.

With 100 to 150 applications coming to Ireland’s office daily, the four employees tasked with handling them — only one working on it full time — are stretched.

In 2008, Barack Obama was elected president. The Maine State Police issued 3,912 permits that year, Ireland said. In 2009, Obama took office. it issued 5,706 — nearly a 46 percent increase. And in 2012, the year of the president’s re-election, it issued 7,574. With that backlog, Ireland said, 2013 will be another record year.

Concealed Carry as the Solution for Votier Fraud!

Sarah Silverman has it sussed!  What are those voter suppression laws really meant to do?

Why, get more guns on the street, of course!
