Georgia Judge Brandishes Weapon in Court

The bizarre conduct occurred Wednesday during a bond hearing and a request for a temporary protective order against Scott Sugarman, a former Hall County sheriff's deputy who was recently arrested on a number of charges, including rape and aggravated assault with a handgun. Sugarman has pleaded not guilty.

The woman who filed the charges against Sugarman was on the witness stand and had testified Sugarman had abused her and, on one occasion, had put a gun to her head. During the latter part of her testimony, the woman was not being cooperative, Langley said.

Barrett told the woman she was "killing her case" and pulled out his gun and, feigning to offer it to her, said, "You might as well shoot your lawyer," Langley said.
If I understood the story right, it seems there's some doubt if he'll even be investigated. Please, tell me why he shouldn't be removed from the bench, disbarred and stripped of his gun rights?

  1. I agree with you.
This guy needs to be a footnote in history and in a small, dark hole for a long time.

  2. Greg Camp must be grading papers or shopping for a new crossdraw rig; otherwise he'd have been here tootsweet to defend the jedge. Why it's only patriotic to suggest that a plaintiff plug the liyer who's not doin' their job. I'm surprised that the jedge didn't just hold the liyer in contemp and shoot him, himself, to save the little lady the trouble. ,

Oh. btw, does the word, "mistrial" or the phrase, "judicial misconduct" seem appropriate re: the idiot's bench behavior?

    1. This looks like brandishing and an implied threat. Certainly, this judge needs to answer a few pointed questions and probably should be removed from the bench. More to follow, likely.

Democommie, you just can't refrain from making up nonsense and attributing it to me, can you? Let me speak for myself, all right?

  3. Greg Camp:

You speak for yourself and say enough stupid things for everybody that comes here, but, hey, I don't got no teevee so poking idiots like you with a stick will have to do.

  4. The man is dumb not dangerous. He didn't brandish his weapon or anything, he made a dumb joke. Sure judicial misconduct but he didn't really put anyone in danger and that is why his gunrights are not being attacked. He has already announced his retirement so no need to go and have him disbarred.

    1. Well the only problem with that tolerant and lenient approach is this. The kind of guy who would do something that stupid is the kind of guy who will do something else really stupid, again and again. Guys like that cause too many problems.

Gun owners should be the first to call for strict treatment of their fellows who give you all a bad name.
