The studies looked at things like differences between groups’ perception of eye movement, and aversion to threatening noises. Researchers also noted that Democrats had larger anterior cingulate cortexes, which are associated with tolerance to uncertainty, while Republicans had larger right amygdalas, which are associated with sensitivity to fear.
This again? Has anyone done a study to evaluate the susceptibility to believing studies? People claim a lot on the basis on thin evidence.
ReplyDeleteYou're a guy who knows how to pick his studies.
DeleteResearch was conducted by the Institute of Phrenology.

Religious people can hear God.
ReplyDeleteGunwack gunsucks talk to their guns. And for the gunwack gunsuck, the gun talks back.
Wow. Gunwack and gunsuck 4 times in only 2 sentences. And to think your command of English is exceeded only by your logic.
DeleteHey, I'm not the one who is afraid of adjustable stocks and barrel shrouds.
ReplyDeleteNo one is "afraid" of those features. The argument is that they add to the lethality of the firearm. On the other hand, your side is driven by all kinds of irrational fears.
DeleteNewtown didn't have those features. And in California they are calling it a "loophole" that identical guns can be sold without those features, and calling for broader bans. So whose right?
DeleteMikeb, look at our two sides. Which one knows more about the function and design of firearms? We've told you time after time that stocks and shrouds don't add to the lethality. Does customizing an automobile make it more lethal in a collision? All those attachments and gadgets are just ways of adapting a firearm to the owner.
DeleteOkay. I waded through as much of the research (rather than articles about the research) as I could find. So far, I'm underwhelmed.
ReplyDeleteOf course you're underwhelmed, but you know why there's an ammo shortage right now? It's all the folks like yourself with larger right amygdalas.
DeleteSo a concern that new gun control laws are being proposed is irrational? When the president and a handful of state legislatures and a few U.S. senators yammer about new laws and bans and so forth, they're just kidding?
DeleteWe're not acting out of irrational fear. But more than responding to a threat, we're sending a message. We're mobilizing for the fight. Any time any new gun control legislation is proposed, we'll buy more guns and more ammunition. The point should be clear.
Of course, Mike. How could I have missed such an obvious answer? All those years spent learning to evaluate research, wasted when I could simply ask you 1)what a given study means and 2)is it both reliable and valid. If I send you a list of both all the research studies I've looked at over the years and the ones on my "get to one day" list will you evaluate them for me?
