Illinois regulators finalizing the state's conditions for medical marijuana have removed a proposed rule that would have barred legal gun owners from becoming cannabis-using patients, a person close to the process told The Associated Press.
The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the draft regulations aren't expected to be published until Friday. The Chicago Sun-Times first reported the change in its Thursday editions.
Some patients had said they would rather continue to use marijuana illegally rather than give up their firearms owners ID cards. The wording drew numerous complaints in public comments from gun owners who hoped to apply for medical cannabis cards. Many said their rights were being trampled.
Yes, gun loons claiming it's their right to use mind altering drugs and their guns at the same time. Then we wonder how people die from idiotic gun negligence.
ReplyDeleteMikeb, I realize that it's an article of your faith that people can't simultaneously be gun owners and drink alcohol or use other substances and still be responsible, but it's possible to put the guns away and drink. I suppose the same is true about marijuana, though I'm not well versed in that experience.
ReplyDeleteIt's no wonder you support gun control. You believe human beings to be enraged and irrational creatures. Those of us who have a more accurate view of humanity support rights.
Your words were you could drink WHILE using your gun. A true gun loon.
DeleteProve it with a URL to the comment, or stop lying.
DeleteGreg, it's not possible for a gun owner to stop being a gun owner when he wants to get high. Do you really think it's sufficient to put guns in the safe and then get loaded. Drugs and alcohol make people stupid and one of the stupid things they do when loaded is take the guns back out of the safe - if they even bothered to put them in there in the first place - if they even had a damn safe.
DeleteNo, Greg, gun ownership and using mind altering substances can never ever go together, ever.
Already proven a long time ago.
DeleteApparently, In Mike's mind, the only way to drink alcohol is to go from zero to sloppy, stupid, blackout drunk, Go ahead and keep insisting on this, Mike. It only hurts your position with the vast majority of people by showing how irrational your demands are.
DeleteMore people might agree with you on the pot issue, but not on alcohol.
Now you're being sarcastic. Of course I don't think "the only way to drink alcohol is to go from zero to sloppy, stupid, blackout drunk."
DeleteWhat I say is every single drink, starting from the first one, diminishes your reflexes, as well as your ability to think clearly and make proper decisions. Firearms are serious business, too serious to play around with. How many drinks can you have and still act in a responsible manner? I say none. If you're suddenly faced with a split-second, life-or-death situation, how many drinks would you like to have had?
Same goes for pot and other drugs.
Mikeb, you're implying that gun owners must have every gun in hand at all moments. You don't seem to recognize that we can put the guns away, nor that we can remain responsible enough not to drag them out while drinking.
DeleteI don't know how much you drink, but I never consume enough alcohol to convince myself that playing with guns while under the influence is a good idea.
Simon, you might want to try that comment again without the lying fucking
Deletebullshit that starts with "No, actually you didn't say that."
Then do the same for cars. No one who owns a car should be allowed to get a medical marijuana card... Or be able to buy alcohol.
ReplyDeleteAnyone who drinks and drives or uses marijuana for medical reasons, wink wink, cannot call themselves a safe and responsible driver. Just like anyone who uses those substances cannot call themselves a safe and responsible gun owner, even if they do lock their guns up while they get high.
DeleteDouble standard! You're only calling those who drink and drive and those who toke and drive irresponsible, not those who drink or toke and who also own a vehicle.
DeleteExactly, Simon. Mike, won't people who have a drink see that car parked in the garage and want to go for a joy ride?
DeleteTS, you say stupid shit like that to me and wonder why I've deleted a few of your comments lately. It gets tired, man.
