FishyJay sent us the link and this nifty graph. Why do you think there's been such a dramatic and sudden increase in Maine?
Concern about crime and personal safety is behind a sharp increase in the number of concealed firearms permits issued by the Maine State Police, firearms instructors and gun rights advocates say.
I don't think I agree with that. Things haven't changed enough in Maine to account for this. I'd say the reason for the increase is the tremendous effectiveness of that planned hysteria about Obama taking away the guns. The gun manufacturers and the gun dealers did that, and it worked. The NRA and everyday gun owners had their own stake in it too, but it was really about big business manipulating the gullible consumers by feeding them fear and paranoia.

Surely Obama's voting record had nothing to do with those fears.

ReplyDeleteI don't think any business is getting rich from the state issuing a concealed carry license.

I agree, Maine's increase parallels the increase in other free states as well.
I don't think
ReplyDeleteFixed it for you.
Of course people are gettting rich; that's what this is all about. The NRA is a lobbying group for the firearm industry.
And make no mistake, there's an entire gunloon cottage industry of gunloons who serve as "instructors."

ReplyDeleteOf course not. Him saying that he would support a federal concealed carry ban has nothing to do with it.
"And make no mistake, there's an entire gunloon cottage industry of gunloons who serve as 'instructors.'"
ReplyDeleteI'll try to make no mistake since I don't even know what the hell that means.

ReplyDeleteWe hear this a lot from anti-gunowner advocates. What they all usually have in common is no evidence.
However, it's easy to find and ask gunowners. They should be able to tell you why they do something, and they will tell you that you're wrong. Of couse here is how you say that gunowners are unconciously manipulated by secret gunmaker plots. It must be like that secret racism of gunowners that praise black gun owners and seek more gun ownership by blacks.
So what is it with the anti-gunowner advocates? No matter how often they talk to gunowners, they still don't understand commitment to gun rights. Money they at least can understand -- so that MUST be it, despite no evidence of that and despite mountains of evidence of NRA and gunowner commitment to gun rights.

ReplyDeleteApparentlty they are also a lobbying group for the government as well considering that's who gets the $200+ dollars I paid for my permit.

ReplyDeleteOf course, the ones who were manipulated into unreasonable fears and paranoia and bought guns last year as a result, should be perfectly willing and able to admit it.

ReplyDeleteIf they were manipulated, enough questions as to why they bought guns should reveal the truth as to why they did so.
Of course, you can claim that they are clever enough to conceal their motives but not clever enough to not be manipulated. Such stretches are often neccessary to sustain anti-gunowners claims.
