The National Rifle Association (NRA) announced on Monday that it would no longer use the law firm King & Spalding due to the firm's decision to withdraw from representing House Republicans in ongoing litigation challenging the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), the 1996 law that bans federal agencies from recognizing the marriages of gay and lesbian couples, theBlog of Legal Times reported.
Because apparently gay rights have something to do with gun rights??
ReplyDeleteThis is yet another example of how closely-tied the NRA is to the far-right political agenda machine.
They didn't do so over "supporting gay rights." They did so over special rights for homosexuals. Homosexuals already enjoy the same rights as everyone else.
ReplyDeleteReally, TN Bud?
ReplyDeleteDo you realize that bin over 35 states you can be fired , without cause, for being gay?
And you can't serve in the armed services if you identify yourself as gay.
The list goes on.
I would add that gays in Civil partnerships are not considered married, thus they are not entitled to the same rights as a spouse.
ReplyDeleteOf course, that also applies to common law marriage these days as well.
Shorter Jadegold to Tennessee Butthead:
ReplyDeleteYou're a fucking liar.
Gay rights don't matter, only gun rights. The first one is an abomination, the second is from god.
