Background Checks Skyrocket in Colorado

The number of people in Colorado applying for background checks to purchase firearms has surged in the aftermath of the movie theater shootings in Aurora, law enforcement officials said on Tuesday.
Why do you suppose that would be? Is it because the people are frightened for their safety and suddenly want a gun? Or is it because the ones who already own guns fear restrictions that might prevent them from buying in the future?

What's your opinion?  Please leave a comment.

  1. Given that home ownership of guns is dropping steadily, most likely most of these are repeat buyers.

Therefore, the only explanation is that most of these buyers are paranoid idiots who are afraid that yet another mass murder will finally rouse the politicians to actually do something to stop the next one, and that the government is therefore out to get them or something. Gots to get them gunzzz.

    2. I think the public will be mobilized during the second Obama term. The scales will tip in favor of gun control and then all the wishy-washy politicians will fear displeasing us.

  2. Gun sales always spike when the anti-freedom ghouls come out of the woodwork to try and use a tragedy to their political advantage. The gun control fanatics are are so insignificant now that the only time you will see a Dan Gross or a Collin Goddard crying to ban everything is when the media puts them on in the wake of a horrific event.

People fear that the same nonsense that happened following public shootings in U.K. and Australia might happen here. Fortunately there are enough cool heads around that realize that banning something is not going to make it go away and the anti-freedom crowd gets no traction when the cameras move on.

Its kind of ironic that the best gun sellers are the gun control 'tards. Really, you anti's should be demanding a commission.

    1. Gross and Goddard did not call for banning everything.
