PA Concealed Carry Permit Holder Loses Gun to Armed Robber

Local news reports
A York man reported to city police this weekend that he had been robbed at gunpoint -- and that the thief made off with the his gun.

Jose A. Diaz-Dechoudens, of the 600 block of East Princess Street, told police the crime happened early Sunday morning, according to the York City Police log.

The incident took place in the 700 block of East Princess Street, Diaz-Dechoudens said, and a pistol was taken. No other details were available.
I'd laugh if it weren't so sad. I don't suppose this is the only time something like this has happened. Most guys would be too embarrassed to report it.  What could the police do anyway?

This is just another example of how counterproductive and useless concealed carry is.

  1. One incident here and there, and you conclude that concealed carry is "counterproductive and useless"? That's against the hundreds of thousands to 1.5 million defensive gun uses that government sources tell us happen every year. Remember those?

But here's another point. Carrying a gun was useful to the robber. Why don't you try to convince him otherwise? No one that I know of makes the claim that carrying a concealed handgun is a guarantee. It's a way of improving the odds--you know, those things that you can't understand.

  2. Perhaps the armed citizen committed one or more tactical errors which is not a blanket condemnation against concealed carry. Regardless, nothing is guaranteed. Concealed carry is not magic. It is an additional option for possible responses to an attack.

    1. "Perhaps?" Are you kidding? Getting your gun stolen off your person is what, if not a tactical error.

I wish this were the only example to draw upon when judging concealed carry. The problem is the bar is set too low. Too many unfit people can own a gun and get a permit to carry.

  3. Your attempts to color an entire, very large, demographic based on minimal anecdotal evidence is pathetic at best.

    1. Where'd you get that idea? I said most of you guys wouldn't, not that I approve of it.

  5. Nah, he shoulda been carryin' a hawgleg on his hip, oneathem Dirty Harry .44 Magnums. Then, when, he determined--with his X-ray vision that the perp was armed--and, it goes without saying, his superior "threat assessment abilities" had set off his perp-o-larm, why he coulda just throwed down on the dude.

Or, maybe, the robber would have simply waited for him to walk by, turned, placed his gun to the guyz head and sent him off to Valhalla.

  6. Mike, you should be applauding this guy. He got robbed, he gave the criminal wants he wanted, and no one got hurt. Isn’t this how you say robberies should go down?
