Women Lead Gun Rally in Indiana

From the Trenches

  1. First off, I notice they have a picture of Thomas Paine, who was a propagandist and as far from a "patriot" as one can get. He barely escaped the "Terror" with his head.

Anyone who is ignorant enough of, or knows, Paine's reputation and uses his picture is suspect to me.

Secondly, the proper historic celebration of the Second Amendment was to participate in a muster day. None of these people are doing that.

Hell, I would hazard a guess they wouldn't know what a muster day was if they suddenly found themselves confronted by a drill sergeant giving them orders.

In short, I see a lovely demonstration of historical ignorance.

    1. Were you there speaking? But seriously, what is your objection to Thomas Paine? I imagine it's as inane as your belief that the Second Amendment requires military service.

"Thus began the creation and establishment of local militia groups in each town. Each town had its own military company with each soldier, at least twice a year, "showing his gun for inspection" and the Selectmen of that town "taking" account of stock in powder and ball, and to see if the town is ready to defend its people and its homes."

"Each company was to be called-out for inspection and drill at least twice a year. In 1795, the age limit was made sixteen to forty."

Thanks Laci, I actually think this would be a cool thing to do. Though it seems to sound like more of a big party after the actual muster and inspection. And twice a year at that.
And can you imagine the response from all of the gun control industry when citizens gathered twice a year with their rifles in a public place to show their willingness to defend their homes. Some training, then break for the festivities, picnic/BBQ.
Actually, weren't officers elected by the unit members back then? Then NCOs were assigned. So the orders would be given by the members of the unit.

  3. The protest should be called "The Meleanie Hain Memorial Protest."
