Zimmerman Trial - Salient Points

  1. So Zimmerman took a class on self-defense law. Doesn't that make him as qualified on the subject as Dog Gone?

    1. Greg,

I'm not conversant on Florida law but here in Minnesota part of the training requirements for a carry permit is training on the laws covering the use of deadly force. I think the reason this came up is that somewhere along the way, Zimmerman made some statement claiming ignorance of this part of the law. So they are using this to cast doubt in the accuracy of his statements.
This case really germane to the stand your ground law.

    2. It shines a spotlight on the way so-called defensive shooters will lie and twist the truth immediately after the incident especially when the other guy is dead. It's human nature.

    3. Which comment shines a light on which side you sympathize with--good citizens or thugs.

    4. Gun owners who lie about the facts leading up to a shooting in order to make it sound more justified are not good citizens. Your best argument about this is that people don't do that sort of thing.

    5. I don't know what Zimmerman is supposed to have said regarding his knowledge about the law. In the aftermath of a shooting, a person can say a lot of things, being rattled about what happened. That's why it's a good idea to shut up and wait for your lawyer. Of course, what we see here is that you want people to sing like canaries and get themselves into trouble.

Care to guess what I think your legal advice to be worth?

    6. Yeah, he was so rattled that he said a number of things that turned out to be false, coincidentally, all of which worked in his favor.
