Yet another gun was discovered by Transportation Security Administration screeners at the Salt Lake City International Airport over the weekend.
Zackery Gage Ogden, 23, of South Jordan, was arrested Sunday for investigation of a weapons violation after screeners at the airport found a gun in his carry-on bag, according to a Salt Lake County Jail report.
The incident marks the 27th gun seized at the airport this year. Twenty guns were seized in all of 2012 at Salt Lake City International Airport and 24 at all of Utah's airports combined.
A person convicted of a misdemeanor or felony charge of having a firearm at the airport can have their concealed weapons permit suspended for up to five years in addition to any penalties the court levies.
Did you catch that part about how they CAN have their permit suspended? I wonder how many actually do? I doubt it's very many.
No, in spite of the bogus statistics they keep showing us, permit holders are as bumbling and incompetent as any other group. They certainly don't make us safer.
No one that I know of is claiming that carry license holders are without problems in our numbers, but on the basis of evidence that you've been shown repeatedly, I can claim that they're much better than the average citizen about following the law.
ReplyDeleteBefore you doubt the reports of state police agencies that back up what I just said, remember that those same agencies would be involved in enforcing your gun control desires.
The "police agencies" that produce statistics based on faulty information have nothing to do with the "police agencies" that would determine "may issue" qualifications.
DeleteRemember the old 90% OF THE GUNS TRACED in Mexico came from the states. It's the same thing. Only one-tenth-of-one-percent of concealed carry permit holders commit crimes, that's HE ONES THEY KNOW ABOUT.
It's funny how you believe so strongly in the ridiculous results of surveys and polls that support your biased ideas, DGU estimates in the millions, permit holders being a superior group, etc., but you can look at a bar graph showing an increase in mass shootings and simply deny that it says what it does. And then you get so indignant and outraged at being called a liar.
I'm not sure that greater effort aimed at keeping concealed weapons out of the hands of law abiding citizens will decrease either the frequency or severity of mass shootings at all. In fact a reasonable argument could be made that if a mass shooting was attempted in a setting where ALL the citizens in that building were legally carrying weapons, the shooting spree might be cut short with less loss of life vs a building with NO person armed. I know which building I'd choose in that circumstance.
