Gallup
The first chart shows that the true gun-rights fanatics, although more numerous than in the past, are still a tiny minority. The second chart shows that only they, in their lying way, claim that people want to ban guns entirely.
What else do you see here?
So... 30 million people are "extremists". Weren't you trying to tell us that there are only 60 million gun owners? That would make half of them hard core types.
ReplyDeleteSomething must be wrong with the numbers. Either that 13% doesn't add up to 30 million, or we have varying definitions of "fanatic."
DeleteThe adult population in the USA is 240 million people. 13% of that is 31 million. You defined "fanatic" as those who think we have too much gun control right now.
DeleteYou're right. I was using the word "fanatic" too loosely. Most of those 30 million don't qualify.
DeleteFifty percent oppose any new gun control, and three quarters specifically oppose banning the guns most commonly used in crimes. What I see here is that your side is losing.
ReplyDeleteDidn't you see those who want "more strict" laws? How is that your side winning?
DeleteThe same way that 53% support for relaxing marijuana laws is seen as winning for that interest. When large numbers support rights, your side loses.
DeleteThe anti-gun forces are not losing. In fact fewer Americans are opting to buy guns. Movements to change law takes a long time, as American history shows on many issues. As fewer Americans own guns, that will be reflected in future laws.
