Isn't Fox News Guilty of Treason?

Legal dictionary
Treason

The betrayal of one's own country by waging war against it or by consciously or purposely acting to aid its enemies.

The Treason Clause traces its roots back to an English statute enacted during the reign of Edward III (1327–1377). This statute prohibited levying war against the king, adhering to his enemies, or contemplating his death. Although this law defined treason to include disloyal and subversive thoughts, it effectively circumscribed the crime as it existed under the Common Law. During the thirteenth century, the crime of treason encompassed virtually every act contrary to the king's will and became a political tool of the Crown. Building on the tradition begun by Edward III, the Founding Fathers carefully delineated the crime of treason in Article III of the U.S. Constitution, narrowly defining its elements and setting forth stringent evidentiary requirements.

Under Article III, Section 3, of the Constitution, any person who levies war against the United States or adheres to its enemies by giving them Aid and Comfort has committed treason within the meaning of the Constitution. The term aid and comfort refers to any act that manifests a betrayal of allegiance to the United States, such as furnishing enemies with arms, troops, transportation, shelter, or classified information. If a subversive act has any tendency to weaken the power of the United States to attack or resist its enemies, aid and comfort has been given.

  1. If criticizing the president is treason then every day 30-50% of Americans commit treason. And when Bush was president every day 30-50% of Americans were committing treason.

    1. Nothing during the Bush years compares to the Obama hate that Fox News pushes daily. Although protected by the 1st Amendment, let's be clear that it does indeed give aid and comfort to the enemy. They are the antithesis of patriotic. I call them traitors to the very principles they claim to believe in.

    2. Didn't someone make a movie about Bush being assassinated? I would say that is right up there with calling Obama weak on foreign policy.

    3. That was a strange movie. The portrayal of Bush was quite sympathetic. I think the producer wanted to portray what an enormous loss it would have been if Bush had been the victim of an attempted assassination or something like that. Said movie was quickly forgotten.

Every president gets death threats. Usually we never hear about them. The odd thing about you dumb fucking Obama haters is the blatancy of the death threats. I do believe that death threats to the president, thinly veiled or otherwise are clearly treasonous. To the core.

As far as the rest of your bullshit, just keep on vomiting to your heart's content. By chance, are ye one of these beloved FOX viewers?

  2. Is is treason, or free speech? Are the protesters of war traitors? Are Republicans traitors because they do nothing but weaken the president anyway they can? Was Jane Fonda a traitor? Definitions differ depending which political slant you are defining "aid and comfort to the enemy." It's a broad term which means different things to different people.
For me, the answer to some of those questions, is yes. It's one thing to burn a draft card in protest of a war, it's another to go to the enemy and have your picture taken with enemy soldiers while you tell your government to stop the war.
If an American walks off the front lines of battle, is he a traitor, or just a coward? He didn't go fight for the other side, he just stopped fighting for his side. Like any crime treason calls for due process. Can we just track down a traitor and kill him (like a drone strike, or assassination)?
"If a subversive act has any tendency to weaken the power of the United States to attack or resist its enemies, aid and comfort has been given."
Given that wording, I thinkytes is the answer to most of my own questions.

  4. All this nonsense with your guest aside, Mike, I'm not sure that hating the president or very much else of this vile propaganda truly rises to the level of treason. Anonymous makes a fairly good analysis.

What I laugh about most is, "Is that all you got?" They sound so stupid. It's pure comedy to me. I was working with the elderly in I believe about 2010 or so, just before the sad demise of Glenn Beck. An elderly republican gentleman loved tuning in FOX, so I was forced to watch several hours that year. All I really noticed was that every story was just a new way to blame some problem on the president or just reinforce the idea that hating the president was good. Period. That was the entire news cycle. They borrowed a trick from Limbaugh, occasionally bringing in a straw liberal who supported the president and then completely demolishing and ridiculing that person.

FOX local affiliates do not rise to the same level of blind malevolence.

    1. No, I haven't said that. But let's call it what it is. Fox News and its adherents give aid and comfort to the enemies of the US. What they do is protected by the 1st Amendment, but it's no less vile and unpatriotic because of that.

    2. If it's protected by the 1st Amendment, then it's not treason. It can't be both.

    3. Do you accept " vile and unpatriotic?"

    4. That's right TS there are limitations to every right including the 2nd amendment.
