Gohmert's Reaction to the Shooting

via Mike Licht via Politico
Texas Republican Rep. Louie Gohmert says his office is drafting a measure to allow members of Congress to carry guns in the District of Columbia, including in the Capitol and on the House floor.
This is one way to react, I guess. Folks who believe more guns equals less crime would naturally want to go this way.

I disagree. What's your opinion? Please leave a comment.

  1. I don't think this goes far enough...it should allow anyone to carry guns in the Capitol and Supreme Court.

  2. I am amused by all the “save yourselves!” legislation that congress is coming up with.

  3. I'm amused too. The only things I've read that make sense to me, and now might be a good time for a push, are the "gun show loophole" and "the fire sale loophole" legislation.

  4. Just think how much more effective and newsworthy the confrontation between Dickless Cheney and Patrick Leahy would have been if Cheney was strapped when he and Leahy bumped into one another on the Senate Floor. Why, "Go fuck yourself!" could have been exchanged for, in the words of Steven Segal, "Fuck you and die!". Ah, the sweet smell of a polite, well armed society.

  5. democommie, I don't think guns are the answer, I know you don't either. Why is that so difficult for the gun guys? I think it's self-serving justification that turns into something more concrete in their fantasy-filled minds.

  6. Rep. Gohmert is right, Washington's Capitol Hill is dangerous. Those people in Tucson were killed outside a Safeway supermarket, and there's one of those on Kentucky Avenue, a mere 14 blocks from the Capitol.
