Puerto Rico Shooting - 4 Dead 6 Injured

ABC reports

Four people have been killed and six others injured in a drive-by shooting in Puerto Rico.

Police said in a statement Saturday that a 45-year-old woman and her 17-year-old daughter are among the victims. Police say they were part of a group gathered at a barbecue restaurant in the central mountain town of Aguas Buenas late Friday when unknown gunmen began shooting into the crowd.
Police say one of the injured people is in critical condition.

No one has been arrested, and police say they don't yet have a motive.

The U.S. territory of nearly 4 million people reported a record 1,117 homicides in 2011.

I didn't realize they had so many mureders.  That should qualify them for statehood right away.

  1. Mikeb, do you really ignore that many of my comments? I've been telling you for a long time that Puerto Rico has strict gun laws and lots of murders. Can't you remember those discussions?

    1. My gods, Mikeb, did you do that many drugs in the days gone by? I've talked about both Jamaica and Puerto Rico because the situation in the two is the same.

      Here's one example:

      You're welcome.

    2. ...and the Bahamas. Believe it or not, gun control fails all over the place.

    3. Greg, I'll bet that's the only example. Jamaica has been frequently mentioned, but not Puerto Rico.

Google is not your friend, and you shouldn't be a betting man, Mikeb.

    5. Am I missing something? Did you pick 4 posts at random? I didn't see an Puerto Rico mentions in any of them.

I know, you were betting I'd not bother to look. I almost didn't because as you know I hate that shit, but please explain. Do.

    6. Mike, I went to the first one Greg listed, hit Ctrl + F--the standard hotkey for finding something in the text on the page. I then started typing "Puerto Rico" and three letters in, it had highlighted an instance of it being brought up in the comments.

      You Fail!

Care to apologize to Greg? Or are you going to Triple Down on the denial?

    8. Mikeb, read my comments at those links. I offer Puerto Rico as an example of gun-control failure in commenting on each article.

    9. Mike, why do you use these tactics when you argue? They make you look dishonest.

He didn't say or suggest that the original post was about Puerto Rico. He said he's been telling you about the situation in Puerto Rico for a long time: "Mikeb, do you really ignore that many of my comments? I've been telling you for a long time that Puerto Rico has strict gun laws and lots of murders. Can't you remember those discussions?"

If you read the links he provided, as you suggest you did, then you know his original statement, that he's been telling you about Puerto Rico for a while now, is true. For you to suggest otherwise, after supposedly reading the links he provided, doesn't lend you any credibility. Instead, it makes you look dishonest.

    11. Sorry, I found Puerto Rico on the Feinstein post. I did ctrl/f before and though I came up empty.

Same for the second one. My "find" function is not working.

Please accept my unequivocal apology and complete admission of having been totally wrong.

I should have known better than to fuck with Greg's claims about past arguments. It seems I've gotten myself into this situation before.

    12. Sorry your computer is giving you trouble. I know how that goes.

And thanks for admitting the error. It shows integrity beyond most on your side.

    13. My side has some without integrity too. I'm responsible for my actions, and you're responsible for yours. As for me, show me that I'm wrong on something and I'll admit it. You're welcome to hold my feet to the fire just the same as I try to hold yours.

  2. An Island with lots of violence, and strict gun control. Clearly they need more gun control! It will fix everything, and stop guns from being smuggled onto the island!

  3. Isn't Puerto Rico one of those havens of peace due to their strict gun laws? It being an island should help I'd think.

  4. You'd think that with the strict gun laws on the island there would be far fewer homicides. Weird, huh?

  5. How is this possible? Puerto Rico is basically a gun free zone just like the District of Columbia? It is possible because gun control doesn't affect violent criminals.

  6. Say . . . did you notice that Puerto Rico just became a Constitutional Carry jurisdiction, with gun licensing and registration now relegated to the trash heap of shameful history? Is that spectacular news, or what?
