Why the Government Should Fear Gun Owners

Texas Colt Carry offered this video as proof that the "civil war" his side keeps talking about between government and the gun-rights people is winnable. The other commenters agreed.

I think they're nuts.  It's self-aggrandizing lunacy, as I mentioned before.

One thing the video does show is that the bullshit those same guys keep throwing out about women being more and more involved in guns is just that, bullshit.  Gun fanaticism is a manly activity. And I noticed there was not one single minority represented there. Now, I realize that doesn't necessarily mean the participants of this shoot are racists, but it does make you wonder.

What I did see is a good showing of fat, white men.  I guess there is something to that stereotype after all.

What do you think?  Please leave a comment.

  2. I can tell these yahoos know nothing of modern military technology if they think a large firearm stands a chance against an enemy armed with things such as the MLRS, Predator drones, and high tech imaging.

I mean these assholes pissed thmselves when I mentioned nukes--what will they do when hit with steel rain?

They will be like the Revolutionary war patriots and spend most of their time in retreat.

    1. And of course the revolutionary war demonstrated that the armed militia was as much of a threat as a limp dick. Not until they got trained, and became more professional, did we have a good result. Gun owners are pussies and cowards.

    2. Laci, remind me which side won the Revolutionary War. Do you recall Vietnam? Modern militaries--both French and American--up against the modestly equiped North Vietnamese army and a bunch of peasants--who won that war? I've mentioned Iraq and Afghanistan elsewhere recently, as well as Libya and Syria.

No one said a new American civil war would be pretty. It would be a long, grueling, and gruesome struggle. At the same time, I'm not aware of anyone on my side who claims that the fight would be textbook set piece battles. No, it would be asymmetrical warfare. Of course, the U.S. military would experience a massive number of desertions and rebellions.

  4. Thank you Mike, I figured you would headline my post. Altho there were a few "OFWGs" there, they were in the minority. I am a "OFG", "W" doesn't apply to me. I am known as a OTW (other than white) and still enjoy the historical machines in that video. As far as modern tech goes, well just more crap to go wrong, easily countered as well on our own soil.

This represents really a checkmate to our government if you will, number one. Number two is the chance that finding any military to fire on its own people, I doubt that would happen. So the chances that a all out civil war, or revolutionary war is nil to none. But it is fun to watch people like Laci just totally freak out and fling bullshit over the mention of it.

The main point I was bringing with this vid is this, your grabber side can twist and lie about the meaning of the bill of rights all you want, it will still not change the fact that owning these weapons IS LEGAL regardless of what is told to the public like the left keep spouting. And enough senators see fit to keep that right to own them as well. You did notice that Frankenstein ban bill got struck down 60 to 40 vote, right? I believe that was a cloture vote against her bill.

Laci, OFWGs as well as old well fit white guys and old other than white guys are not afraid to die, we all die anyway. Any human dies, but to us old guys, death will mean something. We are NOT afraid of your fiction of raining steel, nukes, drones and so on. It will never happen,,,,,,,,, unless you force it. At that point, BRING IT! But like I said, never happen. So you just keep repeating your bull, it wont change facts. Just keep panic going, it only affects you. I just have fun reading it.

    1. You're OTW? What does that mean exactly? Maybe you've told us before but I forget.

Remember in the early part of the video the guy said many of the owners of these very expensive toys were professional men, doctors and lawyers? Well, if restrictions increased enough to put them out of business, are they really the types who would resist? I don't think so, not for the most part anyway. Many of them are upper-middle-class OWG who enjoy a comfortable life and although they're passionate about this as a hobby, they're not about to become resistance fighters and sacrifice their cushy lives.

    2. Mikeb, this is an example of why obsession is a bad condition. It won't be the people who legally bought and use full-auto guns who rise up--not at first or not alone, anyway. It will be millions of Americans who refuse to tolerate more infringements on their rights--all of their rights, not just one class.

Your obsession with race and body type blinds you to the realities of this country.

    3. Mike, you skim instead of read. OTW is explained in my comment, read it again carefully.

You don't think that doctors and lawyers believe differently than you or Laci? Really?

Like I said, I was there at one of these shoots. Besides the unbelievable fire power, the unwavering belief and commitments of these doctors, lawyers, bankers, retired military and well to do business owners as well as regular hard working common folk that freedom isn't free and should be fought for is simply overwhelmingly obvious.

    4. If you call "other than white" an explanation, fine. I asked for something a bit more specific.

    5. Well Mike, since your on a mission of whites being racists against all other races, being an OTW shouldn't really matter. According to you whites ARE racist against all OTWs, correct? Also since I was at one of these meets and being in the minority as an OTW, I can tell you first hand that there was no, NO racist attitude from ANYONE there. All were helpful in explanations, demonstrations and in instruction about their passion. Not only was I allowed to shoot anything there, I was ENCOURAGED to do so, almost begged me to shoot their toys. Which I did and had ball doing so.

The meet I attended had several blacks and Asians there as well as lots of females. The attitude wasn't much different than playing volley ball at the beach. Everyone was having a blast, both literally and figuratively.

Mike, at this conversation, YOU are the only one being racist.

    6. Keep pretending that, Texas. You'll surely convince the already convinced.

    7. Meh, not pretending that Mike. Just pointing out the obvious.

Why? Does the same hold for any large group that is 100% black? 100% Hispanic? 100% Asian?

Even the NRA isn't quite that bad, and we all know how racist they are.

Well you "all" claim to know that, without submitting a shred of supporting evidence. Why shouldn't you just be dismissed as a hate-filled extremist?

So, how "suspicious" are you about the 100% lily-white staff of CSGV, particularly in light of the fact that racism, misogyny, homophobia, and religious intolerance are so intimately inherent to the "gun control" movement?

    6. I was wrong in a comment elsewhere. Add race to the things you are obsessed about, Mikeb.

    7. Kurt, is it part of your self-proclaimed high moral standard to say anything you want regardless of its veracity? In the video you offered, I saw nothing that suggests "100% lily white." I did see that the CSGV has 48 national chapters, which makes the chances of it maintaining that 100% purity pretty unlikely.

    8. Mikeb, you're the one who keeps going on about race. What is your point? Professional athletes are black or hispanic in large numbers. So? Children sit with other children who look like them in school cafeterias. So?

As long as race isn't one of the qualifying characteristics for being part of a group, people will join or not depending on their interests and abilities. Why some choose one activity or another is a complex question. But racism isn't necessarily the answer or even the most likely answer.

      Coming from you--Mr. "I Don't Like Evidence," that's hysterical.

In the video you offered, I saw nothing that suggests "100% lily white."

Tell me, Mikeb--how did you reach your conclusion about the racial makeup of the heavy weapons owners? Watching the video, and seeing a preponderance of whites? Well, I watched the "Meet the CSGV Staff" video (not, mind you, "Meet 74% of the staff," or "3/17ths of the staff," but "The Staff"), and saw only white staffers.

Are you positing that they have black staffers, but for some reason find them embarrassing, requiring them to be kept hidden?

    10. Any 100% homogenous group is suspect of racism.

Is the Congressional Black Caucus "suspect" in your view? If not, would a Congressional White Caucus deserve an equal share of your trust?

  6. Mikeb, you take one example of a special interest and try to claim that because of the people you see in this video, women and minorities aren't taking up gun ownership and shooting.

Owning the weapons shown here requires a lot of money. There's the arbitrary fee set by the government for the necessary documents, then the fact that the price of these guns is jacked up because of the law. What is more, the cost of that much ammunition. Depending on the gun, a couple of seconds firing can run easily into three figures. Don't you imagine that's the reason that this group skews toward the high end with regard to age? The same can be said for the represented racial groups here.

On the question of women, I'll agree that more men than women tend to be tinkerers and gadgeteers, but tell a woman that someone's going after her body or her children, and watch the result. She'll nail the biggest bruiser with a .22 Short single shot if that's what she has around.

  7. Mikeb, can you name one counter-insurgency type conflict that the U.S. military has "won" within, say, the last 50 years? Vietnam? Um--no. Iraq? Afghanistan? Well, if eventually leaving, after bleeding there for about a decade (and with trillions of dollars gone), without a stable, sustainable government in place--or even on the horizon for the foreseeable future--is a "victory," I'd sure hate to see what a defeat looks like.

Al Qaeda has no more stealth fighters (or any fighting jet aircraft) than the private American citizens do. No more tanks, no more submarines--and the U.S. military used far more firepower against them than any government that is not monstrously tyrannical would use against its own people.

If they did use that much firepower against the people, they would create new revolutionaries faster than they killed them.

    2. . . . you and your friends will beat the shit out of the government and you personally will distinguish yourself as a fearless freedom fighter unfettered by your wheelchair.

That sounds more than a little unrealistic to me. I continue to have concerns about your connection to reality.

Are you going to explain how the U.S. military (sometimes with NATO support) has been fought to a standstill in counter-insurgency conflict after counter-insurgency conflict, against lightly armed, and often not particularly well educated foes, but an American insurgency is doomed?

You won't read it, because it would challenge your many deeply held prejudices, and you clearly don't like having those challenged, but Mr. Vanderboegh has provided a brilliant explanation of Fourth Generation warfare.

It's too bad that you won't read it, and learn why the government's MLRS systems, A-10 Warthogs, and nuclear arsenal are utterly irrelevant, but I suppose you'd prefer to keep your illusions.

    4. According to a new survey that has CSGV all panicked, the most intelligent, knowledgeable, and honorable 29% of American voters believe Americans may have to fight the government for our liberties within the next few years.

That's no fringe "fantasy." Probably explains why Obama perceived a need to tell Ohio State graduates to "reject" warnings about tyranny.

  8. "And I noticed there was not one single minority represented there."

The explanation is fairly simple. First of all, minorities are a fraction of the total population. That alone means there will be less of them at such an event. Second, many aspects of minority sub-cultures and circles of friends means that there will be even fewer present. Finally, shooting in general is expensive and the financials involved in possessing fully automatic firearms is prohibitive to most people. Sadly, many minorities lack the financial resources to participate and that again means yet fewer minorities participate.

When you combine all three factors above, the result is that see very few, if any, minorities at such events. I wish there were more.

    1. "A fraction of the total population?" You mean like two-thirds or three-fourths, that kind of fraction?

It won't be long until Spanish is the most spoken language in the US.

Your justification is bullshit. The real reason is because they're not welcome at events like this. Those good-ole boys with the huge beer-bellies generally don't take kindly to them.

What is it exactly that I don't know what I'm talking about, by the way? You don't believe that the Spanish language is taking over the US? 6. I know a smattering of several languages, words and phrases tourists pick up in order to be able to get around the country they are visiting. I've been to Italy, but that is not a common phrase a tourist would use, so yes, I looked it up.

In answer to your second question, no I don't think you know what you're talking about in any of the instances you brought up.

As has been pointed out to you many times, ownership of machine guns and other automatic weapons, although legal with the right paperwork and fees paid, are also prohibitively expensive and most of the people who own them are of course, rich, successful people who can afford the hobby.

As far as women, they are buying guns and taking classes in ever increasing numbers. Also, if you go to this link, you will see that women are well represented at machine gun shoots http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images?p=tennessee+machine+gun+shoot&_adv_prop=image&va=tennessee+machine+gun+shoot&fr=ytff1-tyc9&tab=organic&ri=40

Anyone, even you Mike B, can go to one of these shoots and try out a machine gun.

  9. Mikeb,

What you totally fail to recognize is gun culture. Thousands, millions, of U.S. citizens enjoy the technical side of firearms: how they work, how to make them better, how to shoot them accurately, how to make the best ammunition, etc.

Hobbiests practice all the time for the shear fun of it. That means there is a large pool of citizens who know how firearms work, how to maintain and even fix them, and how to shoot them accurately.

And for reasons that are not particularly relevant, most of that large pool of people greatly cherish the traditional values of our nation and basic human rights -- which overlap in many respects.

Those are the reasons that a government who seeks to trample on the people should live in fear.
