Yes, at least philosophically. I realize there are situations in the world for which pure pacificism might not be the best answer, but I lean towards the non-intervention, non-aggressive position.
I think of myself in much the same way...I dont like the Idea of having to protect my self or my family with the use of violence upon another person but I will not standby and allow us to be harmed in some kind protest against all violence...And I am definitely a non interventionist especially in the matters of other countries
I was watching a documentary about Greenwich Village when I heard Phil Ochs singing I Ain't Marching Anymore from 1965. I couldn't help but see the similarities between these two amazing protest songs.
It's a good song, but there's something about Donovan's voice that makes me long to be deaf. Joan Baez's version is very good, though.
I Ain't Marching Anymore is great, but (perhaps because I grew up in a family with three older siblings who are huge Neil Young fans) I've always found Neil Young's "Soldier" a hauntingly beautiful song.
Do you consider yourself a pacifist Mike?

DeletePlease don't turn this into a gotcha attack.

DeleteWow. Why are we arguing so much?

ReplyDeleteThat's also one of my favorites.
