A Measly 23,847 Resister Guns Under NY SAFE Act, Millions More DO NOT COMPLY

I Will Not Comply

Ammoland

In response to the SAFE Act gun registration numbers released by the New York State Police, NYSRPA President Tom King made this statement:
“I am amused at the pathetically low numbers of New Yorkers who registered their so-called assault rifles.”

“The number of individuals who registered their guns is 24,000 and many of these are law-enforcement officials mandated to comply by their department. “

“In short, New Yorkers have, by their lack of compliance, effectively repealed a portion of the NY SAFE Act. Congratulations to the gun owners of New York State.”

  1. Um . . . "hiding in fear"? I call it "courageously defying, as a matter of principle." Sheer, heinous evil is losing to principled morality. We shall overcome.

    1. Some may be as you describe, but most are as I did.

  2. So first you predicted that people would be fearful of consequences and thus would comply with registration laws. Now that that prediction failed, you've changed it to them being too fearful to step into the light and register their guns. Love how no matter how wrong you are, you always manage to be "right".

You just made that up. That's what liars do.

There seems to be a lot of this going around in the area that you tout as being better educated and therefor more willing to embrace "common sense" gun laws. Not so long ago, we were observing this,

"Three years ago, the Connecticut legislature estimated there were 372,000 rifles in the state of the sort that might be classified as "assault weapons," and two million plus high-capacity magazines. Many more have been sold in the gun-buying boom since then. But by the close of registration at the end of 2013, state officials received around 50,000 applications for "assault weapon" registrations, and 38,000 applications for magazines."

The refusal to comply and the expansion of gun rights through legislative means in the region suggests that "common sense" means something to the citizens far different than what the gun control lobby thinks.
Considering that someone had to go to court just to get this information demonstrates that they are well aware that the SAFE Act isn't working out so well.

    1. I would think the majority of those who don't comply are doing so betting that the chances of getting caught are almost nil. They're not corageously defying anything, as Kurt says, and they're not basing their decision on common sense. What they're doing is tantamount to speeding when there's no one around and you figure the chances of getting caught are near zero.

  4. So even when the people have spoken, the pro gun crowd will not listen, or comply. Simple criminals.
