The Hypocrisy of Gun-Rights Legislators

The New York Times

In the Carolinas, guns are allowed in bars. In Arkansas, you can take a gun into some churches and religious schools. In Indiana, you can keep a gun in your car on school property. In West Virginia, residents with concealed-carry permits can bring firearms into public recreation facilities such as tennis courts and swimming pools. Since the massacre in Newtown, 18 states have passed laws allowing guns in more places—but in only four states can you bring a gun into state legislative chambers.
“They did it everywhere but where they are,” Danny Jones, the Republican mayor of Charleston, W.Va., said of his state legislators. “The road to power is paved with hypocrisy. That’s what’s going on here.”
Why the disparity? Some of the laws are aimed at preventing towns and cities from enacting their own gun-control measures. Steve Hickey, a Republican state legislator in South Dakota who owns 17 guns, believes more guns make people safer. He sponsored a bill that allows some teachers to carry guns in schools, but opposed one that would allow them into the statehouse.
“We have the most contentious issues being debated in publicpolicy, affecting people in irate, angry ways and affecting millions and millions of dollars,” he told Bloomberg Businessweek. “This is different than when you go work at the bar. This is different than you [are] working at the bank.”

Smart Gun Technology - No Way, 3D Metal Printing of Guns - Right Around the Corner

The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) has just published the results of a McKeon & Associates survey that shows a large amount of distrust of so-called “smart gun” or “personalized gun” technology and any regulation to require its use.

Smart guns are firearm equipped with electronic radio frequency or biometric scanners that disable themselves when not in the right hands. Without the pre-selected RFID tag or palm or fingerprint scan, the guns will not fire.
Although it’s well-meaning safety mechanism, in the end most Americans don’t trust the existing technologies and would be opposed to a smart gun mandate.
You know what's funny about this?  Gun-rights fanatics insist that the million-dollar cost associated with 3D metal printing will soon be so reduced that it'll be available to every idiot with an internet connection but smart gun technology is out of the question.

Anti-SAFE Act Hypocrites

Thanks to democommie, who's got that irony-spotting eagle-eye.

Some counties have decided that they will not wait for the state to rule on the issue and are already denying access. Some counties are also saying that they won't implement various provisions of the NY SAFE Act (http://www.governor.ny.gov/nysafeact/gun-reform).

What's deliciously ironic is that the same gunzloonz who were foaming at the mouth and whining about being outed by those who HATE TEH GUNZ are now proudly, defiantly, bravely, patriotically and totes cluelessly putting anti-SAFE Act signs, like the one pictured here.

The link proudly claims that 7,000 of the signs have already been distributed.
