Simple proposition: the presence of a firearm means there is a risk of a firearm accident.
Now, watch people do everything they can do deny that fact. I've noticed most of the "pro-gun" arguments try to refute that proposition.
Despite the studies which point out that a gun in the home poses more of a danger than a benefit, people will deny that.
Do you REALLY want to protect your family and keep them safe?
Or is that just bullshit and you would bring the menace into your home for some insane ideological point?

More Shootings; More AVOIDABLE Shootings
Fewer guns, and more gun regulation, there wouldn't be stories like this. And yet the gun nuts tell us over and over and over again how we have perfectly ACCEPTABLE levels of shootings occurring. We shouldn't get upset over so few incidents, now should we? What's one gut shot 8 year old girl, more or less compared to holding their fetish objects?
EXCEPT THERE ARE NOT A FEW, there are many - too damned many.
From MSNBC.com:
8-year-old girl critically wounded in shooting at Washington school
Armin Jahr Elementary School in Bremerton, about 15 miles west of Seattle, was just letting out for the day when the victim, a girl in the third grade, was shot about 1:29 p.m. local time (4:29 p.m. ET), Bremerton police said. Police said it was too early to speculate about the circumstances, but a spokeswoman for the school district told NBC station KING of Seattle that the shooting appeared to have been an accident.
The girl, identified as Amina Bowman, was in critical condition at Harborview trauma center in Seattle with a gunshot wound, the hospital said. Hospital officials said Amina was out of surgery and in intensive care but that they couldn't comment on earlier reports that she had been wounded in the stomach.
Although Amina is a minor, her identity was released after her grandmother named her in local media interviews. The woman, Cindy Kocer, told KING that the family expects Amina to be OK but is asking the public for its prayers.
Bremerton police Lt. Peter Fisher said the gun used in the shooting had been recovered and that a second student, believed to have been the shooter, was being held for questioning. The school district said that student is 9 years old and also in the third grade.
Kerri Johnson, the mother of a fourth-grader at the school, which is named for a former district superintendent, told KING that her son heard the shot.
“He’s really scared, but he’s fine,” Johnson said.

9 Month Old Dead in Shooting : Enough is Enough
Too damned many innocent people die from gun violence.
And our gun nuts are part of the problem because of their resistance to measures which would possibly minimally inconvenience them, in order to reduce the number of guns in the hands of criminals.
Their more guns, no restrictions attitude kills people. Innocent people's blood is on their hands.
The police Sgt. sums it up, enough is enough.
From MSNBC.com :
Between 20 to 30 shots were fired into a house in the 8400 block of Greenview Avenue, near Tireman, investigators said.
Police said there were several adults inside the home at the time of the shooting. The baby had been in the living room in front of the house, they added.
The boy was taken to Sinai Grace Hospital, where he died.
"I believe that we as a community have to come together to stop this senseless violence," Detroit police Sgt. Eren Stephens told The Detroit News. "It's going to take everyone in this community to say enough is enough."Neighbor Diane Fryst, 67, said she heard shots ring out and hit the floor.
"The shooting didn't last more than a few minutes," Fryst told the Detroit News. "It sounded like an AK-47 because of the 'pop, pop, pop' sound that it made. I've heard shots around here before so you get to recognize the sound."
No arrests had been made.
It’s the second time within weeks that a Detroit youngster has been killed.
Kadejah Davis, 12, was killed on Jan. 31 when a gunman fired through the front door of the home in which she was living with her mother, according to the Detroit News.

Philly Mass Shooting Update
May I point out that we have had multiple mass shootings and we're less than 30 days into the new year. That is something that just doesn't happen nearly as often, per capita, in other countries, with fewer guns.
FAR fewer guns.
Update on the recent Philly mass shooting.
From MSNBC.com :
The mayor's on-camera remarks came after a 30-year-old stepfather opened fire on a car full of kids who came over to fistfight with his three stepsons Tuesday night, according to police, reported NBCPhiladelphia.com. A source told NBC Philadelphia that Axel Barreto confessed to firing shots at the car, killing three teenagers inside. He was arrested Wednesday night in a Bensalem, Pa., motel.
Police said that around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, seven teens drove over to a house in Philadelphia's Juniata section. Barreto was waiting with a semi-automatic in the driveway, NBC Philadelphia reported. He fired about a dozen shots into the car, hitting four of them, police said; the 16-year-old driver, whose neck was grazed by a bullet, is expected to make a full recovery.
While Mayor Nutter expressed satisfaction over Barreto's swift arrest, on Thursday night, he told reporters that the situation left him exasperated.

“Seven young people, somewhere between 14 and 16 years old, on a Tuesday night -- a school night -- are out in a car going to somewhere to have a fight with some other teenager. That is completely insane, it is irresponsible," he said. "Parents have to know where their children are and what they are doing.
“The least you can do is know where the hell your kids are, in the daytime, in the nighttime, or at any time during the week or on the weekends. That’s the minimum we should ask and expect from our parents. You want to have kids? Take care of them.”
The victims were looking for trouble, he said.
“Their little butts should have either been in bed, getting ready for bed, or doing some homework,” Nutter said, reported CBS 3 in Philadelphia. “Not out in a car, not in some other neighborhood, and not up to this kind of nonsense. I’m not your mom and I’m not your dad. We cannot completely legislate, or by policy, make people responsible for their children.”
And to Barreto, he said this: "If you want to act like an idiot, you want to be an a**hole, you want to be a lowlife in this town, we will track you down like the dog that you are."
The other teenagers who were in the car on Tuesday night were cooperating with police to help investigators figure out the timeline of events that led up to the deadly shooting, according to NBCPhiladelphia.com. One of the people in the car that night allegedly received a call asking them to meet in the driveway that night, they told police.
The shooting resulted from an argument that originated on Facebook, reported NBCPhiladelphia.com. Nutter said he hoped this would serve as an example for other teens to avoid retaliatory acts. “It is not going to work out well for any of you," he said.
Barreto was formally charged with the murders of the three 14-year-olds on Thursday morning.

Philadephia mayor: Slain 14-year-olds' 'little butts' should have been in bed

PHILADELPHIA - An outraged Mayor Michael Nutter lashed out after three 14-year-olds in his city were killed, calling the shooter "a dog," "idiot" and "a**hole." Have We Had Enough of These Shootings Yet?
Events like this are part of our 'gun culture'. It's time pro-actively to change that gun culture, to encourage people to find other notions of how to resolve their feelings and their conflicts.
We've had too much glamorization and glorification of personal firearms. It's time to move away from the notion that everyone needs their own lethal weapons.

Soccer player killed outside his home
Los Angeles police were investigating Thursday after a 17-year-old high school soccer player was shot dead outside his home in northwest Los Angeles.
Francisco Rodriguez was lured outside his home in Winnetka, where he was shot multiple times in his front yard at about 6 p.m. PT on Wednesday, KTTV reported.
The victim was taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said it was not a random shooting and that Rodriguez was targeted, according to KTTV.
Originally, detectives said they believed the shooter was a teenage girl who fled the scene, but they later admitted they did not know if that was true.
"They're kind of backing away from that," officer Karen Rayner told the Los Angeles Times.
Rodriguez, a member of the varsity boys' soccer team at El Camino High School, had played in a match just before he was gunned down.
"There was actually a soccer game tonight [Wednesday], and I guess as soon as he got here, someone was waiting for him at the door," Rodriguez's friend Sergio Hernandez told KTLA after the shooting.
Soccer coach Ian Kogan described Rodriguez as a "great kid" who loved to play soccer and "cared a lot" about his teammates and his school.

Another Mass Shooting, This One in Philly
It's not JUST that we have daily shootings, we have weekly MASS SHOOTINGS, where multiple people are killed and injured.
But heck, that's ok, so long as the gun nuts are happy with more and more and more guns in this country making these events possible.
Shall we revisit that perennial question, where did this gun come from? Now we hear from the gun nuts all the time that we can't prohibit anyone from having a gun until AFTER they do something harmful. At some point, we should be considering why it is that we have so many more gun violence crimes in this country than they have elsewhere.
This level of gun violence is NOT an acceptable trade off. This was never what the Founding Fathers intended in the 18th century, and it should not be acceptable to anyone in their right minds now.

3 teens shot dead in Philly ambush
A group of friends gather near the scene of a shooting where candles, a teddy bear, and photos have been left Wednesday.
By msnbc.com staffPolice late Wednesday arrested a man after three teenagers were shot dead in an ambush in Philadelphia, according to a report.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that another teenager was also wounded in the attack Tuesday night.
Police told the paper on that night seven teenage boys had got into a Toyota Corolla and gone looking for a fight with three brothers, after an argument that had begun in school and continued on Facebook.
Joshua Soto, 14, and Javier Orlandi, 16, were pronounced dead shortly after and Dante Lugo, 14, died Wednesday night in hospital.
"There very easily could have been seven dead teenagers in that car. He just randomly fired," Capt. James Clark told the paper.
It reported that Axel Barreto, 30, stepfather to the three brothers, was arrested Wednesday night.
The Inquirer said Michael Nutter, Philadelphia's mayor, visited schools attended by the children involved Wednesday.
At Mariana Bracetti Academy, a middle school attended by one teen in the car, he told students that they were "in a great school, in a loving environment with people who really care about you."
"Stay in school. Stay positive. Stay focused. You're doing great work. We just came here to say that we love you and care about you," Nutter said, according to the paper.
