Wyoming Dropped Gun Injures Woman

The bumbling female gun owner probably had a concealed carry permit.  The questions are will she be charged with anything and will this incident make it into the statistics about how irresponsible the permit holders are in Wyoming.

My guess is no and no.

Wyoming Hunter Shoots Himself in the Leg

A 21-year-old Riverton man was airlifted to Casper on Sunday reportedly after shooting himself in the leg with a shotgun.

According to reports, the man was duck hunting along the Wind River east of Riverton when he lost his footing on an embankment at about 8:40 a.m. Sunday.

"The gun apparently fell out of his grasp, and during the fall the weapon discharged," Undersheriff Ryan Lee said.

"The shot struck his right femur, and he landed partially in the river."

The weapon was identified as a .20-gauge shotgun loaded with three-inch magnum steel shot.

"Several details of the case remain unclear," Lee said. "The victim was unable to communicate with the investigating deputy due to being in shock."

Lander Wyoming Accidental Shooting - Wife Dead

Lander Chief of Police Jim Carey says 25-year-old Courtney Cox Lander died Saturday afternoon when she was apparently shot accidentally by her husband.

Carey says the investigation is still going on but it appears the shooting was “an accident, moreover, a tragedy.”

The husband, who’s name has not been released, was apparently handling a 45-caliber hand gun when it fired and a bullet went into the woman’s mid section.

Cox was rushed to the Lander Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Wyoming Man Critical after Accidental Shooting

A 19-year-old Clark, Wyo., man is in critical condition in a Billings hospital after his friend accidentally shot him in the stomach Monday night.

A news release from Park County, Wyo., Sheriff Scott Steward said Patrick Caines and a friend were cleaning handguns in Clark when Caines was shot in the abdomen at about 8:30 p.m.

Caines' friend was dry-firing the guns after cleaning and reassembly to make sure they worked properly and did not realize that a .41 caliber magnum revolver was still loaded, Steward said.

The gun went off and a bullet struck Caines. 

"At the time of this release, the Sheriff's Office considers this to be an accidental shooting and foul play is not suspected," Steward said.

How is such a thing even possible? The stupidity of some gun owners is unbelievable. The only thing worse is the nonchalance with which these acts of negligence are met. And let's not forget the way other gun owners defend and thereby encourage this behavior.

I say one strike you're out.  This negligent young man should spend a night or two in jail and a lifetime without guns.  We'd all be better off, including him.
