A 49-year-old Olympia-area woman was critically injured Friday when a .380 semi-automatic handgun her son was handling accidentally discharged.The bullet hit the woman in the head. The mother was sitting on a couch with her sleeping 7-year-old daughter.Her son, 20, was interviewed at the scene and has not been arrested.“There is no reason to believe there was any criminal intent,” [Thurston County sheriff’s Lt. Greg Elwin said. “He was appropriately distraught.”
How's that for a pathetic response to unconscionable negligence?
