Cenk Speaks His Mind on Guns

  1. Doesn't he claim to be a Young Turd or something?

We all know his rantings are for shit anyway.

  2. Flabbyturk moves to this country, enjoys the benefits of living here, and then wants to take away basic American rights. No thank you. If you come here, you need to adopt American values. Then you'll be welcome. But if you're here to ruin my country, feel free to go home.

    1. Yeah, Greg, he came here when he was 8 to ruin your country.

    2. Clearly, this is another failure of our educational system. We need to teach constitutional rights better. I'm doing my part, at least.

    3. I'm sure you are. Do you ever have any free-thinking students who resist your version? Do any of them dare to think outside the narrow box?

    4. My students are free to express themselves, just as I am. Since I've taught in the South, most of them already agree with my position. I help to improve their arguments.

    5. Yeah, Southern world view. That's a wonderful thing to teach.

    6. What, exactly, is the source of your hatred of the South? Southerners, obese people, and whites are fair game here for slurs and bigotry, and I'd like to know the reason.

  3. Ban swimming pools, lakes, and any place with water. Evil water kills many more children than guns.
    orlin sellers.

  4. The real question is why didn't the police protect Trayvon Martin from being killed?

    Aren't the cops to blame?

    1. No, as I mentioned on another thread, gun-rights advocates are to blame.

    2. Let's ask the question that needs to be asked: Why didn't Martin just give a polite answer to Zimmerman and then go on his way? The evidence now is much clearer. Martin--a teenager who had been high recently, if not that day--knocked Zimmerman down and was beating him. That's when Zimmerman pulled out his gun to defend himself. Those of you who defend Martin show us that you really do side with thugs.

    3. If he would have dialed 911 to tell them he is being followed, they all could have had a good laugh about it when the cops showed up. “What, you called the cops on me? I called the cops on you! Ha-ha-ha.”

    4. The thug was Zimmerman who should not have been allowed to own guns let along use one against another human.

    5. Right, because Zimmerman was just walking around a bit in his own neighborhood. His gun was in his pocket for most of the encounter. He viciously forced Martin to knock him down and get on top of him. He maliciously demanded that Martin pound his head into the sidewalk. Yup, keep shovelling, MIkeb.

  5. Wow, he didn’t speak about specific policies, but that sounds like the rant of a man who simply hates guns, and would go to any ends to see them eradicated.

Interestingly he highlights the 554 accidents as “actually the worst stat” and talks about how his hobby is fantasy football. Football, incidentally, only kills ~100 people per year (by some estimates). So somewhere over the next 450 deaths/year he crosses from “it is OK for these kids to die as part of my gambling amusement” to the spit filled rage we just witnessed. He mentions but quickly dismisses the upside of guns, I guess because it is not as important as the upside of him being entertained- since football saves exactly zero lives per year.

    1. Don't forget the lasting effect of concussions. Those lead to suicide, symptoms similar to Parkinson's, and so on. And of course, American football glorifies violence. Hypocrisy, anyone?

    2. Some are speculating that Junior Seau’s suicide is a result of the cumulative effect of football on the brain. Call it a “gun death” and a “football death” if you will. Cenk doesn’t care about the football part because Seau is long retired and not in his fantasy starting lineup.

    3. It did sound like Cenk is ready for the total ban on civilian gun ownership.

    4. I'm glad that you recognize it, since THAT'S WHAT HE SAID. We told you so.

    5. "It did sound like Cenk is ready for the total ban on civilian gun ownership."

At least he's not too cowardly to mask his true intentions. The same can not be said about most other gun control advocates.

    6. Most gun control advocates don't want a total ban. Cenk does, apparently.

    7. Actually, most gun control advocates are vague on the specifics of what they want, you included. When pressed, they shuffle about and ask for common sense. This fellow talks straight--that's one point in his favor.

    8. Me included??? Are you nuts, or are you just saying shit again regardless of whether it's true or not.

I've written several posts in which I outline exactly what I would like to see as gun control. You could probably repeat them right now, you've seen them so much.

But, you throw that inanity in there, we're vague, even me?
