I suppose this guy was a lawful gun owner, otherwise there would have been charges about illegal possession of the gun. But, I wonder if anyone checked to see if he had a concealed carry permit?Police said that a Robin Rocky was shot on Aug. 18 after two men became "enraged" over their $75 bar tab.According to police, Rocky, 39, was serving as a bartender at the Hard Road Café, located at 1880 Hard Road, around 2 a.m. when glasses were thrown at her and she was punched. When Rocky walked outside the bar to call 911, one of the men fired several shots at her, striking her once in the leg.Police arrested George Anthony Gulledge, who was accused of firing shots at Rocky, early Sunday morning. Gulledge, 38, was charged with felonious assault.
It seems to me that owning a gun, carrying one for protection, and using it to settle disputes too often go together. These are problems caused by so-called legitimate gun owners.

As with the case of all "lawful gun owners" that break the laws, they need to be punished to the full extent of the law and if the laws aren't harsh enough, make them harsher. It doesn't matter if he was a lawful gun owner with a concealed carry permit, what matters is that only he should be punished for his action. Punishing all other gun carrying, concealed carry permitted citizens is not right.
ReplyDeleteOnly those that commit the unlawful acts shall be punished.
"Punishing all other gun carrying, concealed carry permitted citizens is not right."
DeleteIncreasing the restrictions on gun ownership and concealed carry is not the same as "punishing law abiding citizens." In fact, under the strictest gun control, responsible people who qualify to own guns would not be affected much at all. Minor inconvenience is what we're talking about, not "punishment."
Taking away rights is a punishment.
DeleteWell, that may be true, but I'm not suggesting we "take away" anything.
Delete"Increasing the restrictions on gun ownership and concealed carry" is taking away our rights. Look at New Jersey. Look at D.C. and Chicago. People who want to own guns have to go through ridiculous red tape just to get permission. Hardly anyone gets to carry legally in New Jersey, and no one in Illinois or D.C., minus a few security guards and such.
DeleteThe fact that you see this as reasonable is one of many things that are making you lose.
Do you have any evidence that this man has a carry license? Again, you're using a smear tactic. You're trying to create doubt with no support. That's because you have no real evidence for your side.
ReplyDeleteYou cannot call him a lawful owner. Using a gun in this manner isn't lawful. When you can predict a crime in advance, we'll have to listen (since you'd see us coming anyway), but until then, citizens with no criminal record a good citizens.
This was not a Hard Rock Cafe. It was the Hard Road Cafe (a hole in the wall kind of place), a play on words made possible by the fact that it is located on Hard Road.
ReplyDeleteSome states don't require a permit at all to carry, some other don't require a permit to carry openly. I don't know in what state this took place.
ReplyDeleteBut in any case, "Law abiding" is not an accurate description.
"It seems to me that owning a gun, carrying one for protection, and using it to settle disputes too often go together. These are problems caused by so-called legitimate gun owners."
It doesn't seem that way to me at all. Those that carry for protection do just that. Look at your own post about "A Legitimate DGU (Defensive Gun Use)". Others that carry because they have a chip on their shoulder is NOT a lawful gun owner and is one of the very reasons we carry for protection. This guy would fit in your one strike program Mike, on this guy I would agree. Make sure he is prosecuted to the fullest extent and never has legal access again to any firearm. Making him an example to prosecute everyone is not the answer, otherwise a "A Legitimate DGU (Defensive Gun Use)" couldn't happen and more will be injured or killed.
Why was my comment removed? Too much truth in it?
ReplyDeleteThe same thing's been happening to some of my comments. Was it done by a member of the Brady Campaign? No one is checking...
DeleteNo comments have been removed. Maybe you hit delete instead of send after that fifth vodka.
DeleteNope, I saw my comment and read to see if I needed to add a reply if I missed anything. 30 min or so and it was gone.
DeleteBesides, I dont see a delete button, only preview or publish.
There is no delete button. But if you say that it's an Internet snafu, I'll accept that. Your remark about vodka is another unwarranted assertion, since I favor Scotch.
DeleteBLAH! I don't see how anybody can drink that stuff,, I don't mean a particular brand, I mean alcohol at all.
DeleteI at one time drank coffee and cokes, but after the second kidney stone, spring water only and thats it.
So I guess I was drunk on spring water!
I'm glad to know you're a sober gun owner. That's the only way to go in my opinion?
DeleteIt is my FIRM belief!
DeleteTypical gunwack gunnut. Don't like someone, kill them. All NRA members think alike.
ReplyDeleteI'm a member of the NRA, and I don't approve of shooting someone over a bar bill. What I do recognize is that no matter how many laws are passed, violence will still happen. Taking away the rights of good citizens because a few bad people do bad things isn't the answer.
DeleteMikeb, are you going to remove the Hard Rock Cafe' logo? Once again, you're implying a connection that isn't warranted, and the company might take offense.
ReplyDeleteI'm not implying anything.
DeleteYou are not implying that this happened at a Hard Rock Cafe with your title and logo when the news story clearly identifies the location as the Hard Road Cafe?
DeleteOops, I better look into that.e
