Actually I'm really into personal responsibility. You're the one who supports lax laws that directly lead to unnecessary deaths and then shrug it off as not your problem.
Ah yes, you're so into "personal responsibility" as you blame me and tens of millions of other people for crimes we didn't commit with your very next line.
Even if what you are saying were true, that would be called collective responsibility, and indirect affect. That's the opposite of personal and direct (which would be the guy who pulled the trigger and killed someone).
Mr. Jackson makes a thought inspiring statement that seems to suggest that many people think carrying a gun makes you a big guy and that it will gain you respect. However, that isn't the purpose of a gun. Its a tool to be used in the direst of need for a narrow range of circumstances. And the person who bears the weapon needs to always keep in mind how narrow those circumstances and the need to resist using it at any other time. There is an old saying that when all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. You must always bear that in mind when you carry. But, that being said, there is nothing shameful or wrong in being willing to defend yourself or your loved ones from those who wish to do violence against you.
I think Jackson is trying to appeal to Black Americans. There is a very real problem with turf wars and petty rivalries. He's really not talking to stupid white gun owners. He's trying to make a difference. You guys can just go on buying guns for your children, shooting your wives, accidentally shooting your friends while you are wasted, killing people who come to your door, scaring normal people with your open carry bullshit and driving around DUI with your gun within reach of the driver's seat. He's really not talking to you.
I bet Mike hates it. He's all about casting with widest net of blame imaginable.
