The reprise of the CCW visitor.

Remember him? He is the armed guest?

It seems the wives compared notes on the incident afterward.

The guest's wife told him not to bring the gun. But it seems that he was too macho to have listened to her in the first place. He had to bring a gun even though he was travelling through a low crime area on a social visit.

The basic bottom line, It's rude and aggressive to carry a gun into a home where you don't live. Even if the people are gun owners, they can still feel annoyed at this sort of behvaviour. Etiquette would require the gun owner to find out about bringing a weapon before entering.

The general consensus was that the armed guest wanted to make an impression, but the only one he made was a bad one.

And don't expect to be invited back if you make a bad impression.

  1. I can see it now. The hostess is dishing out her famous broccoli, tuna and potato chip "hotdish", when the manly guest takes out his Glock, lays it alongside his plate and says, "I don't eat that crap, capice?".

Remember, an armed dinner party is a polite dinner party. Also remember (re: the guest's ignoring his wife's request to leave his gat in HIS house), disrespect, like charity, begins at home.

  2. What must be remembered is the fact CCW has nothng to do with personal safety or self-defense. It has everything with how a gunloon wants to be perceived.

Frankly, most gunloons equate carrying a gun with being respected. Problem is, carrying a gun around serves to illuminate how insecure one is.

  3. Or, in this case, the guest is just plain off nuts.

In fact, that's how this part of the interaction came about. I asked about crazy {man's name}.

He has the reputation for being a nut case, but this incident was way over the top.

  4. Now lets hope the wives compare notes and decide to repeat the invitation.

So, Laci.....would you accept an invitation to go to THEIR house?

And what will your response be if without consulting you, you find them invited for dinner again in the future?

I would hope the four-legged Laci keeps the jek in his place!
