Climate Change

7 comments:

  1. Bill Maher doesn't like Teddy Roosevelt--well, Maher is a jerk, but the overall point here is good. Conservative means preserving what we have. Yes, the science about climate change is good. We have work to do. In addition to protecting the environment, green energy would free us from being dependent on some of the worst countries on this planet.

By the way, what role, other than being silly, was Kerry Washington there to play?

  2. Maybe I'm a jerk too, because I have no regard for Teddy's turning the country to imperialism and his absolutely savage treatment of the Filipinos, especially the Moros. I consider myself in good company since other anti-imperialists included Mark Twain, Carl Schurz and Ambrose Bierce.

Regarding 'climate change' formerly known as 'global warming', formerly known as 'global cooling' these experts are a bunch of quacks. Their credibility ranks right up there with Thomas Malthus and Paul Ehrlich.

Even if these greenies are right, there is absolutely no way they can truthfully know it won't be a good thing that happens.

    1. I see. Besides music, you're also an expert on scientific matters.

    2. What I know is that the 'ist' on TV can't accurately tell me what lies in store for me tomorrow, yet I'm supposed to believe an 'ist' who is predicting what lies ahead a hundred years from now.
Or, as Mark Twain wrote: "A genuine expert can always foretell a thing that is 500 years away easier than he can a thing that's only 500 seconds off."

Regarding me being an expert on music, after being a professional musician and involved in other facets in the music industry for 35 years I do believe I am qualified to comment on shitty music and overrated musicians.

    3. BTW, Maher's guest was very clear about 329 months that have passed, but failed to tell us exactly how many months of the same that we could look forward to. Why is that? Could it be because he doesn't frickin' know?

    4. Orlin, I'm with you on Teddy Roosevelt, but what makes Jimi Hendrix great for me is not his musicianship. I don't know if he has that or not, not being one myself. But' it's his place in my brain and in the lives of me and millions of others who came of age during his heyday.

When I say "great music," it's strictly a personal preference, not a technical musical judgment.

  3. I'd like to hear Dog Gone's take on how I can lack critical thinking skills while at the same time accepting the scientific evidence for global warming and for evolution. I mean, I should be a creationist climate skeptic, right?
