Colion Noir, the Lying Con Artist, Says Gun Control is Based on Feelings

It seems poor Colion can't make a straight, honest video even if he tries. Actually, I don't think he's trying at all.

This one, like most of his, is based on a lie.  The entire premise is that the gun control movement is based on "feelings."  He takes this obvious over-simplification from the occasional remark that people have a right to feel safe. To take that remark, which gun control folks have been known to say, and try and spin it to represent the entire gun control movement is ridiculous.

The secondary lie is that because of these "feelings," gun control folks want to take guns away from good people.  This one's a bit trickier, since there are assault weapons bans and other restrictions that do take SOME guns away from SOME good people.  But, that's not what he's talking about.  He's making it sound like we want to disarm everyone and leave them helpless to face the ever-present threat of violence. (Which is mainly in their minds anyway. Remember when it suits, they keep telling us how violent crime is declining.)

The truth is the gun control movement is about taking guns away from unfit and unsafe people. It's not based solely on "feelings." It's based on facts and statistics, it's based on the never-ending stream of misery that's caused by irresponsible and dangerous gun owners. It's based on the fact that guns start out lawfully owned and through various means make their way into the criminal world.

What's your opinion?  Is this guy a lying con-artist or what?

Ah yes, the idea that one might need to be protected from violence is completely incompatible with the idea that violence is declining--anyone who says violence is declining and yet takes precautions against being attacked is obviously either paranoid or a bald faced liar.

It's pretty rich when you accuse someone of being a con man while dissembling yourself.

    1. The con man part is the false theme of the video, which as I explained, pretends that gun controllers are mainly driven by emotion and feelings.

I just threw that paranoid part in there for fun. Apparently it hits one of your buttons.

    2. I've seen either you or your co-bloggers go on about how appropriate it is to use emotion to drive the debate. Joan has also had posts about this on her blog. Sure, there's other things in play--poor reasoning, a worldview that values control and safety over liberty, etc.--but emotion is a significant part of the gun control argument.

As for your excuse about throwing in the paranoia part, nice deflection from your attempt to con people while accusing others of being con men when they merely highlight a major driver of your side.

    3. I don't think the "feelings" part of the gun control position is significant. What's significant are the many many stories we read every day about lawful gun owners misusing their firearms. That's significant along with the 35,000 firearms deaths a year and the half-a-million stolen guns a year and the half-a-million gun crimes committed each year.

You and the liar Colion try to say it's all about "feelings" in an attempt to paint us as silly superficial people who find guns icky and frightening.

    4. But that's the way it is, Mikeb.

    5. What's the way it is? Are you defending the mendacious premise of the video? Are "feelings" the main driver of the gun rights movement?

    6. Deny, deny, deny all you want. We've seen the post where you guys not only base arguments on feelings but defend that as completely proper. It's not the only driver for your side, but it's one you gladly use whenever it suits your purposes.

    7. I used the voice of Walter Cronkite. What more do you want?

Seriously, gun control is about control or fear. Some of you yearn to make others do what you approve, while others of you need to feel safe, even if it's an illusion. I can't see any other reason why someone would support gun control.

    8. T., the video this con man put together mocks the "feelings" part as if it's the only or at least the main driver of the gun control movement. It's not. The fucking kids who are killed with guns every day are. The half-a-million guns that are stolen from idiot gun owners each year are. The 30,000 + people who are killed with guns each year are. Those are facts not feelings.

    9. I'm sensing some defensiveness here that makes me think this video must have hit closer to home than you'd have liked.

    10. Frankly, I don't care if it's the primary driver for you. It's a big one used by your side with many people, so it needs to be argued against along with your more rational motives and arguments.

    11. Well, your claim about the number of guns stolen is suspect, but let's consider the facts you cite. Yes, those are facts. Now what ought we to do about those facts? That's where you apply feelings.

      Delete
    12. No, Greg, what we must do about those facts, and I only mentioned three, is stricter gun control. This is not some superficial, silly feeling, like the lying Colion Noir pretends, this is a concrete plan of action. And even you have admitted it would work, but you say the price is too high. Which makes you a self-centered narcissist because what price in inconvenience could be too high to save innocent lives?

      Delete
    13. A concrete plan of action, you say? Let's expand on that. What are the expected results of that plan? How do you measure those results empirically? What happens when the results don't meet your expectation?

      Delete
    14. Mikeb, your concrete plan of action is based on your feeling that we must do what you believe, and no, I do not agree that it would accomplish the stated goal.

    2. You suggest that that statement doesn't represent the entire gun control movement. It appears to me like its a pretty good percentage based on this list. I even see Baldr in the group.

    3. What statement doesn't represent the gun control movement? Be specific if you want to try for a gotcha.

    4. Mikeb, why must you be exasperating? Read the statement that Sarge quoted.

    5. Someone said we have a right to feel safe? That's it? That justifies claiming the entire movement is based on feelings?

    6. And here Mike goes full blockhead and pretends to be unable to follow a statement over and over again to try to derail the discussion.

      Pitiful, Mike.

  3. As we were discussing earlier, gun control supporters fall into two categories: control freaks and sheep. The two are made for each other. The control freaks yearn to order others around, ultimately with the intent of exploiting the people they control, while the sheep desire to be kept safe, even though they should know that they're only going to be sheared and slaughtered by their controllers at a later date.

Nothing pisses these two groups off more than someone who refuses to play along.
