Colion Noir, the Lying Con Artist, Says Gun Control is Based on Feelings

It seems poor Colion can't make a straight, honest video even if he tries. Actually, I don't think he's trying at all.

This one, like most of his, is based on a lie.  The entire premise is that the gun control movement is based on "feelings."  He takes this obvious over-simplification from the occasional remark that people have a right to feel safe. To take that remark, which gun control folks have been known to say, and try and spin it to represent the entire gun control movement is ridiculous.

The secondary lie is that because of these "feelings," gun control folks want to take guns away from good people.  This one's a bit trickier, since there are assault weapons bans and other restrictions that do take SOME guns away from SOME good people.  But, that's not what he's talking about.  He's making it sound like we want to disarm everyone and leave them helpless to face the ever-present threat of violence. (Which is mainly in their minds anyway. Remember when it suits, they keep telling us how violent crime is declining.)

The truth is the gun control movement is about taking guns away from unfit and unsafe people. It's not based solely on "feelings." It's based on facts and statistics, it's based on the never-ending stream of misery that's caused by irresponsible and dangerous gun owners. It's based on the fact that guns start out lawfully owned and through various means make their way into the criminal world.

What's your opinion?  Is this guy a lying con-artist or what?

Colion Noir, NRA Con-Man, Strikes Again

First of all, the Mother's Day Shooting in New Orleans did make the news. The suggestion that gun control advocates were silent about it is not true. In fact, we had quite a lively discussion about it ourselves.

Shootings like the one in New Orleans, in which 19 people were hit, are not epidemic. They are as rare as the other mass shootings in which multiple people are killed or wounded. But that doesn't stop Mr. Noir from saying so, from lumping the mass shooting in NOLA with the every day gun violence in Chicago. It really belongs with the other mass shootings.

The accusation that no one is talking about how to improve ghetto conditions and that we're only interested in CONTROL is ridiculous. But, Colion says this in his slick, fast-talking way as if it's a given.  It's not.

Much of his pitch is based on the false foundation that we want gun control AS OPPOSED TO all the other efforts that are called for.  The truth is, all the other efforts are already operative. Lots of resources are being invested in education, job creation, drug programs, etc.  Mr. Slick is pretending it's an either/or situation. It's not.

The "here's gunny" graphic is cute.  But the lie behind it is not. It says gun control people believe an inanimate object talks to ghetto kids telling them to commit violence.  This is the "blame the gun" lie, which when it comes to presentation, Colion Noir has no peer.

The truth is, gun control folks, like all thinking people, understand that GUN AVAILABILITY is the problem. Gun availability to unfit and dangerous people. And blame for this can be placed squarely at the feet of the gun-rights advocates like Noir. They fight for lax gun laws that guarantee the tremendous gun flow from lawful gun ownership to criminal possession. And the gun manufacturers are laughing all the way to the bank.

Gun flow into the criminal world happens in four ways, which we've discussed at great length.

To sum up, Colion Noir is somewhat convincing but rather superficial con-man.  If he had real substance to his arguments he wouldn't have to resort to lies like the gun control folks "blame the gun," and lies like the gun control folks "aren't concerned about ghetto violence."

Colion Noir on Starbucks

Not only did he embarrass himself with the most foolish comparisons - gun owners and gays, gun owners and interracial couples - but he tried to pass off a whopper on us again, as is his trademark. The second amendment does not have anything to do with open carry or concealed carry. Even the mistaken Supreme Court rulings a few years ago did not cover carrying guns outside the home.

In this one he says gun-rights supporters should avoid the infighting that sometimes arises between concealed carriers and open carriers. "I'll stand up for the right of open carriers to open carry." But that's in sharp contrast with his previous video in which he had nothing but criticism for the "open carry idiots" who are ruining it for everyone.

Black Gun Owners Slam Funny or Die’s ‘Black NRA’ Parody

Town Hall

In case you missed it, last week Funny or Die produced a video in which comedian Sarah Silverman, among others, facetiously advocated for a black NRA.

What these black gun owners are purposely overlooking is that almost all the guns used by criminals start out the legal property of some lawful gun owner.  Through various means these guns slip into the criminal world.  The NRA is the great champion of the so-called freedoms that allow that gun flow to continue unabated, and naturally the gun manufacturers love it.

Sarah Silverman's video rightly links the NRA with the terrible scourge of black on black gun crime. The NRA, and by extension, all gun-rights supporters, are responsible for the gun availability that is contributing to that national disgrace.

For me, this whole thing was worth it to see Colion get on his soap box with all the exaggerated indignation he could muster. His video was a riot of so many sarcastic references by a wannabe Republican mocking liberals than no one could follow it all. I'm sure this one will get him plenty of attaboys from the real conservatives and hidden racists who love to prove they're not.

Colion Noir on Open Carry

I knew if he made enough videos eventually we'd agree on something.

Dom Raso on Background Checks

In the nonsense department, this guys is worse than Colion Noir, and that's saying something. He said 76,000 failed the background check in 2010 but only 13 of them "were legally blocked from buying a firearm." In true Colion-Noir form, he tried to confuse the argument by conflating the "blocked from buying a firearm" idea with "actually prosecuted and convicted of committing a felony in order to try and buy a firearm."

The fact is ALL 76,000 were blocked from buying a firearm. This is proof that the background check system, at least where it's required, works extremely well. The question of arresting and charging people for the paper crime of lying on a government form is a different issue and has little to do with the background check system's efficacy. Gun-rights fanatics use this to obfuscate the fact that background checks work.

I should apologize right here to Colion.  Compared to poor Dom, Mr. Noir as hip, slick and cool.  Dom Raso is a bumbling and embarrassing inferior imitation.

Snoop Lion's Anti-Gun Video and Colion Noir's Critique

I've always thought it was a weak argument that gun control folks should be concerned with all violence not just gun violence.  First of all, it's just stupid.  Everyone is concerned with all violence, even when we talk about a specific type.  Secondly, since most murders are committed with firearms, it seems like gun violence is a pretty good place to start.

The video was generously sprinkled with personal attacks.  This is what the gun-rights folks do to people they disagree with. Snoop is too old to be convincing as a gangsta rapper, he's "transforming" into Snoop Lion, he's doing a bad imitation of Bob Marley, etc., etc.

Another common complaint which Colion uses is the "focusing on the gun" thing. This one is a bit baffling because it could just as easily be seen as "focusing on the gun user."  In spite of what the gun-rights fanatics say when trying to mock gun-control people, we all know that inanimate objects don't act on their own.  We know it's a "people problem," we know it's a "people who misuse guns problem." And we know those people are often lawful gun owners.

The key point Mr. Colion tried to make also failed. He said while the video is vilifying guns, "real people are using firearms to protect their lives with." The reason that fails is that the misuse of guns outpaces the defensive use by about 10 or 20 to 1.

Besides all of that, I though the new Snoop video was pretty cool.

Colion Noir Slips in a Good One about the Gabrielle Giffords Shooting

This is an old one, but I found it still at the top of his Youtube page.

At about the 1:00 mark he actually says, "What's the name of the guy who had a carry permit and tackled the guy who shot Gabrielle Giffords?"

Does anyone else see a problem with that?

Colion Noir Still Lying to Advance His Agenda

He actually says that we say "40% of gun purchases are conducted by private sales at gun shows." That's not true at all and he knows it. He's not only a liar, but he's so arrogant that he thinks his ability to talk fast and be slicker than the rest will work. And, I suppose in a sense he's right.  Because he's preaching to the choir, for the most part, he's sure to receive wide-spread approval from his fellow gun-rights fanatics.

What we actually say is that 40% of gun sales are conducted privately and do not require background checks.  It's one thing to question the provenance of the stat and claim it should be lower, but claiming that we say this 40% takes place ONLY at gun shows is mendacious.

And then, ironically indicting himself he says, "having an agenda in and of itself isn't evil, but lying to advance it ..." and "if your proposed measures were such common sense and blatantly effective you wouldn't have to lie and pander to our emotions"

The Latest from Colion Noir

As usual, it takes only seconds for Colion to begin the spinning. He mentions "hammer violence" in the same breath as "gun violence."

The rest of the video is a slick pitch for taking the focus off guns and puting it on violence. But why? That's what I want to know.  Most murders are committed with guns.  Innumerable other violent crimes are commintted with guns. Hammer violence is not a problem, gun violence is.

Why not focus on guns?

The reason is obvious.  It's a self-serving attempt to discredit the gun-control movement. The people of the gun want as much freedom as they can get regardless of the overall harm it does to society.

Colion Noir on NRA News

These guys are like two bullshit-artists blowing smoke up each others asses.

I loved what Colion said, "It was love at first shot."  This is what happens to many insecure and frightened men who suddenly find the cure to their lack of empowerment. Immediately afterwards they construct elaborage justifications for gun ownership like "I could probably take on one guy, but two or three or four."  They actually convince themselves that it's a serious possibility that they'll be attacked someday by "two or three or four" guys and having the gun will save the day.

The real reason of course is the feeling of empowerment the gun gives them. It compensates for a psychological inadequacy. And once experienced, they'll go to any length to maintain it.

Now, that wouldn't be so bad except for the down side.  People should be able to own whatever fetish items of talismen they want to feel whole, but with guns it's not so simple.

Gun accidents are not the statistical anomaly the gun fanatics keep saying.  Besides the hundreds of deaths that occur each year, there are many times that who are seriously wounded. These are the direct result of gun proliferation.

Even worse is the gun flow into the criminal world. Through various means, lawful gun owners are the source of almost all the guns used in crime. The more diffuse gun ownership is, the greater the gun flow is into the black market.

The Expanding NRA Fear Mongering

Black Panthers

The NRA’s Flip-Flop on African Americans

The NRA's flip flop on African Americans

Salon

When the gun control debate focused around black militants taking up arms, the fulcrums were very different. Indeed, both the NRA and President Ronald Reagan spoke against armed citizens when African American men patrolled neighborhoods brandishing firearms in response to racial violence. The Panthers were not the “well-regulated militia” that the white, conservative stalwarts of Second Amendment advocacy had in mind.

Hence the hypocrisy now of the gun group appealing to African Americans — invoking the Civil Rights movement — to lobby support against gun regulation. The NRA hired Internet star and gun advocate Colion Noir to feature in a video, posted on YouTube Friday, to appeal to the black community.

More on the Fast-Talking Con Artist Colion Noir

Opposing Views

The National Rifle Association (NRA) has created a new video (below), starring YouTube star Colion Noir, to demonize the U.S. government in order to encourage African-Americans to oppose gun control.

In the video, released on YouTube, Noir claims that 30,000 Americans killed each year by guns is not actually a "gun problem," but rather a 'history problem."

Noir does not mention that the in 2008 and 2009 gun homicide was the leading cause of death among black teens, according to AmericanProgress.org.

Instead, Noir falsely claims that the U.S. federal government "hosed us down with water, attacked us with dogs,' when in reality it was the state governments of Southern states.

It was actually the U.S. federal government that sent troops into the South to protect the rights and lives of minorities.

Coming Soon to NRA News: Colion Noir

Here's why I've nick-named him the Fast-Talking Con Man

Fairfax, VA --(Ammoland.com)- The NRA has announced that Colion Noir is going to be their newest contributor to NRA News.

If you’re part of the Youtube gun community at all you’ve certainly seen some of Noir’s videos where he breaks down gun arguments into easy to understand terms and cut through stereotypes.
Noir has over 82,000 subscribers on Youtube and over 6.7 million views on his videos.

We could not think of a better spokesman for the NRA to have right now.

Noir’s ability to cut through the BS and identify with younger gun enthusiasts should make him invaluable in the fight for our rights.

Mr. Colion Noir - Still a Fast-Talking Con Man

via TTAG where they love this guy.
1. "You wanna take away our Constitutional rights, but ..."  Owning a particular type of gun is not part of the 2A rights.  The way he says this it sounds like we want to take away the entire thing.

2. "my goodness, you're still calling an AR-15 an assault rifle."  Yeah, so?

3 "that you're so scared of."  This is an insult which pro-gun folks love to hurl at gun control people.

4. "you wanna bring a handgun to a rifle fight?"  What rifle fight? He's so delusional that he imagines gun fights and rifle fights where there are none.

5. "on Google you could learn that a semi-automatic rifle, or an assault rifle is the most effective tool for self-defense."  Now, it seems OK to call it an assault rifle.

6. "scary and intimidating."  This is part of the insult mentioned in point number 3.

7. "if I have my gun out I'm in a gun fight or about to be."  The delusion is frequently finding oneself in a gun fight.  He talks about it in the present tense.

8. "what are you gonna do when three dudes with AKs kick in your door?" I suppose he means the jack-booted government thugs.

9. "I need something equally scary and intimidating to equal the playing field."  Now, he's calling them scary and intimidation.  A minute ago he was mocking gun control folks for thinking that.

10. "There's no one in this country that can tell me that by banning assault rifles they can guarantee that no criminal can get their hands on one." This is the biggest lie of all. No one says that any law would be 100% successful. No one says "this way NO criminals will be able to get them."  He says this as an aside, assigning it to the gun control folks.  It's a lie.

11. "I'd still want one because it would be me and other law abiding citizens that have the advantage." This is an important point of deception too.  Most of the mass shootings as well as a healthy portion of general gun violence is done by law-abiding citizens.

Fast-Talking Con Artist - Mr. Colion Noir

His first mistake was to address people who want to "take away the guns from America." No one wants to do that.  This is a pro-gun trick, pretending we want to "ban guns," and arguing against that as if we really said it.

Then he goes into the "evil" segment.  With certainty he says, "it will make its appearance at some point." This is the traditional fear tactic that gun nuts use to justify their behavior and gun makers use to sell more guns to them.

And no proper pro-gun rant would be complete without the "blaming the gun" schlock. We don't do that, in spite of the frequency of its repetition from the self-righteous gun lovers.
