Texas Gun Rights Hero Going to Jail for 18 Years

Huffington Post video

A Texas woman and former actress pleaded guilty Tuesday to sending ricin-laced letters to President Barack Obama and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, under a deal that her attorney has said would cap prison time at 18 years.

Shannon Guess Richardson entered her plea in federal court in Texarkana, Texas, to a federal charge of possessing and producing a biological toxin. Richardson was arrested in June after authorities said she tried to implicate her estranged husband, Nathan Richardson, after he had filed for divorce. Prosecutors say

Shannon Richardson mailed three letters from New Boston, outside Texarkana, then went to police and claimed that her husband had done it.

  1. Gun fanatics? Seemed to me you guys, including the former Mayor of NYC jumped the gun a bit, as often happens, in blaming this on the "gun culture" and it turned out to be a domestic dispute.

"It turns out the ricin-laced letters mailed to President Barrack Obama, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and his gun control group Mayors Against Illegal Guns last month had nothing to do with guns or gun control after all. It appears instead that the motive was something which sounds like the plot of a made for TV movie featured on Lifetime. Apparently the tainted letters were part of one woman’s elaborate scheme to ruin her husband’s life. And apparently someone has let the cat out of the bag."

    1. Regardless of her interior machinations, having sent poison to Obama and Bloomberg makes her a gun-rights fanatics' champion.

  2. Mikeb, it's claims like this that make your position laughable. She was trying to hurt her husband. She failed. This has nothing to do with gun rights, and it wasn't the action of gun-rights supporters. She's no heroine.

    1. That magazine is a leftist advocacy site, and a large portion of the comments there are in favor of gun rights. Gun control loses.

    2. No wonder multiple regulars on this site call you a cowardly criminal liar.

    3. It's so brave to call someone a coward from the safety of anonymity.

    4. Right, like calling yourself Greg Camp means the world knows who you are. Laughable. Post your name, address, phone number so I can verify you are who you say you are. You miss the lesson, everyone on line is anonymous.
Your words define you; and you have defined yourself as this sites criminal lying coward.

  4. "Gun rights hero"? What has she done for gun rights? Framing a gun rights advocate for political assassinations is not something that helps the movement- in fact your side immediately jumped on it to use for your gain.

    1. Where do you think she got the idea of targeting Obama and Bloomberg in her attempt to frame her gun-nut husband? She got it from you gun-rights fanatics who never tire of expressing your dislike of those two public figures. Are you going to claim that the more passionate among you did not cheer at her efforts?

    2. I know of no sane person who cheered her crimes.

    3. Exactly, your side is rife with insane maniacs.

    4. O.K., let me clarify, since you missed the point. I don't know of anyone who cheered what she did. I'm sure someone out there has, but no one I know of.

    5. There are thousands who cheer what she said. You spend so much time on the net (have your own blog) I find it dishonest you have not read about those who cheer this woman, but you are this sites lying criminal coward.

    6. There is a maximum number of wackos that I can read in a given day.

    7. Then why make a claim (lie) about something you know nothing about?

    8. Yeah, Greg spouts the most extremist positions possible yet insists he knows no extremists.

    9. And never responds when he is caught in a lie, or even stupidity.

    10. I said that I don't know of anyone who has cheered the actions of this woman. That is a true statement. Perhaps you've read someone who is cheering? Show us.

    11. Mikeb, my positions aren't extreme, except to people as against rights as you are.

    12. As usual, you were spouting off (lying) about something you know nothing about. Typical for the site lying criminal coward.

    13. "Not extreme?" You mean like the part where you claim to be opposed to ALL gun control legislation.

    14. His positions aren't extreme? Laughable!
His position is to use criminal activity, that's extreme. I'm sure he does not think so, criminals never think they are extreme.

    1. Anyone who attacks Obama and Bloomberg, regardless of their motives, is a gun-rights hero.

    2. Even you must know how hollow that sounds.

      Try this.

George Zimmermann sends poison to Wayne LaPierre and tries to frame his girlfriend for it. Do you now claim GZ is a gun-control hero???

    3. Bullshit is what Greg posts everyday. Lying cowardly criminal bullshit.
