A high quality firearm. I bought my M-4 from Bushmaster because that's the brand my local police department keeps in its squad car and the Chief spoke well of its quality and reliability.
ReplyDeleteSo far, I've not noticed it murmuring suggestions of murder and mayhem coming from it. Though my middle daughter has said she wants to use it to hunt deer with it come fall. Something I think I can arrange if she does her part.

DeleteThe high-nitrogen fertilizer used in the OKC bombing would be an idiotic choice for "grow[ing] pretty flowers"--such fertilizers would force the plants into putting the vast majority of their energy into growing foliage, rather than blooming, while the high-phosphorous, low-nitrogen fertilizers that are good for flowering would be useless for any high explosive formula I'm aware of. I'd be grateful for any info you could provide for a militia ordnance application of such fertilizers. No such thing as too much knowledge.

Mike having worked in the mining industry for most of my working life I can validate SJ's comment ..Ammonium Nitrate mixed with fuel oil is the most widely used explosive in surface mining and has been for years.....Ammonium Nitrate has been used as an explosive since WWI and when mixed with fuel oil or other things such as aluminum powder is considered an explosive and not a fertilizer by the BATF and may not legally be transported from the location that it is mixed in fact there are special formulations of AN made for the mining industry so not all AN is intended to be used as fertilizer though most will work as an explosive....
My intent was to point out how since you wanted a gun you might realize it does have a purpose other than to kill. No, I don't think you actually want to kill someone, so really there is no need to be offended.

If you follow those links you'll learn quite a bit about Ammonium Nitrate and its uses, including some information I didn't know--e.g. that 80% of the explosives used in the US are ANFO--I had no idea that use was as common as it was.
Entertainingly, the first three uses of Ammonium Nitrate listed in the article are fertilizer, explosives, and instant cold packs--three uses I laid out when you accused me of just saying any old thing that came into my head.
