How much bullshit are alleged DGUs anyway?
In this case, the DGU that turned out to be false, when someone in Doylestown claimed that the Souderton mass shooter, Bradley Stone, had tried to carjack him. Instead of making himself a hero, this claim diverted police attention and resources from the manhunt.
"We contend that he performed an enormous
hoax that cost taxpayers a lot of money," Bucks County District Attorney David Heckler said at a news
conference Friday night. "This is terrible conduct. This is unacceptable
conduct."
However the police officers were suspicious about the claim, according to Heckler.
And well the officers should have been suspicious since the two locations are about 13 miles apart. Mapquest says it would take about a half hour to drive this, which is probably optimistic given the stop lights and traffic.
Of course, the pro-gun side is happy to look at these incidents as proof that ""guns save lives" when the reality here was that it wasted police resources.
I have to admit curiosity as to how many DGUs are actually verifiable incidents: especially now that the Get Away With Murder laws have stopped any inquiry as to the actual events when someone claims "self-defence". Short of a major amount of evidence to the contrary, the claim of self-defence stands. In fact, even with evidence to the contrary, the claim can pass (e.g., Trayvon Martin).
Breaking, it seems that Bath Township detectives believe they have “overwhelming evidence” to prove a former Navy SEAL, Chris Heben, lied when he claimed he was shot during an altercation with three black men outside of a popular shopping center.
"We have overwhelming evidence based upon video, cell phone records and interviews that the shooting did not occur in the West Market Plaza and that Mr. Heben made false allegations to us," said Bath Township Police Chief Mike McNeely.
George Zimmerman recently pointed out that you should have insurance if you are going to go around shooting people due to the legal costs.
Nothing I haven't been telling you, but you all know the law better than I do.
Yeah. right.

The Famous "Hulk Hogan" Quote
“When I grabbed him, the only way I can describe it is I felt like a five-year-old holding Hulk Hogan," Wilson said in the testimony that has been released by the St. Louis County Prosecutor's Office. "The face that he had was looking straight through me like I wasn’t even there … He started to lean forward as he got that close, like he was going to just tackle me, just go right through me.”
So said the 6 foot 2 inch, 210 pound officer armed with a gun, talking about a fat teenager acting aggressively.
I call bullshit on that one. Like any defensive shooting, the shooter will say anything afterwards to make his actions seem more justified.

Theodore Wafer Found Guilty of Murder
Theodore Wafer
Huffington Post
A jury in Detroit found Theodore Wafer guilty of second-degree murder and manslaughter in the death of Renisha McBride Thursday, according to the Associated Press.
Wafer, 55, was on trial in Detroit's Wayne County Circuit Court after shooting 19-year-old McBride on his porch in November. McBride appeared at Wafer's house in Dearborn Heights, adjacent to Detroit, around 4:30 a.m. on Nov. 2. She crashed her car nearby earlier that night, and no one knows her whereabout in the several hours between the accident and her death. She was severely intoxicated. She knocked on Wafer's door, potentially looking for help; he came to the door with a loaded shotgun and shot her in the face.
One of the first images the jury saw in the trial was of McBride, lying lifeless on Wafer's front porch.
Wafer pleaded not guilty and his attorney sought to show the shooting was in self defense. According to the defense, Wafer woke that night to loud, intense banging on his front door and side door and feared multiple people were breaking in.
"In the depth of his being, he's never been that scared in his life," defense attorney Cheryl Carpenter said.

According to authorities in Arizona, a man who fatally shot another man inside of a suburban Phoenix Walmart on Sunday was acting in self-defense.
Kyle Wayne Quadlin, 25, opened fire at Kriston Charles Belinte Chee, 36, following an argument at a service counter. Investigators who looked into surveillance footage from the incident said both men were fighting before the shooting occurred.
"Mr. Quadlin was losing the fight and indicated he 'was in fear for his life,' so he pulled his gun and shot Mr. Belinte Chee," police said in a statement.
After the shooting, Quadlin remained at the Walmart for a short while and then fled from the scene. Authorities were able to locate him after family members called police to report where he was.
Though Quadlin has not been booked in the case, investigators will send their investigation for review by the Maricopa County Attorney's Office.
