Bumbling Florida Gun Owner Forgets There's One in the Chamber and Shoots Himself in the Hand - No Charges

An accidental shooting sent a Bradenton man to the hospital Wednesday for treatment of a self-inflicted wound.
The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office reported a 49-year-old man living in the 4500 block of Dover Street Circle East was home alone at 4:30 p.m. replacing the grip of his pistol when he accidentally pulled the trigger and shot himself on the hand.
The victim was treated at a local hospital and released, according to the news release.

South Dakota 7-Year-old Killed by his 9-Year-old Brother - No Charges

Authorities say a 7-year-old boy was killed when he was accidentally shot by his 9-year-old brother at a home in the southeastern South Dakota city of Freeman. 

Hutchinson County State’s Attorney Glenn Roth says that the older boy told investigators he and his brother were playing with a handgun Tuesday when he pulled the trigger, thinking the gun was not loaded. 

Roth declined to immediately release the names of the boys, citing the need to first notify family members. 

No charges were immediately filed. Local and state authorities are continuing to investigate.

Alabama Man Shoots Himself Accidentally - No Charges

A Vestavia Hills man has been transported to the hospital following what appears to be an accidental shooting.

At approximately 1 p.m. this afternoon, authorities responded to the 1800 block of Laurel Road in response to a report of a person shot. When officers arrived, they found an adult male suffering from a single gunshot wound.

The man appears to have shot himself accidentally, said Gilham. No other injuries were reported.

Arkansas 3-Year-old Dead - Sheriff Says it Was Just an Accident

Authorities in Greene County say the weekend shooting death of a 3-year-old boy was accidental.
Greene County Sheriff Dan Langston says 3-year-old Logan Carter of Fontaine died from a gunshot wound to the head. The sheriff says a relative accidentally shot Logan with a .45-caliber semi-automatic handgun on Saturday.
According to the sheriff's office, the boy's family took him to Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould after the shooting. The boy was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Langston says officials are still investigating the case to determine whether any charges should be filed.

A 19-year-old Penn Township man was charged with the accidental shooting of his 18-year-old friend Tuesday afternoon.
Police said Colton Cline and Tyler Fetter were hanging out at Cline’s Lux Road home just after noon when Cline fired one shot.
According to the criminal complaint, Cline reportedly told police he and Fetter were “goofing around” when Fetter threatened to beat him up. In response, Cline reportedly pulled out a shotgun, prompting Fetter to ask, “Am I supposed to be scared?”Cline told police the gun went off as he was moving the gun away from Fetter.
Investigators said Fetter was shot once with a shotgun in the arm and chest area.

Oregon 8-Year-old Shot By Dad Accidentally - No Charges

An 8-year-old boy successfully underwent surgery Saturday after police said he was accidentally shot by his father.
The boy's father was putting a shotgun into a gun safe when he accidentally shot his son, according to police.
Police said the boy was inside a home in the 17900 block of SE Marie Street when the shooting was reported just after 2 p.m.
Officers found the boy with a bullet wound in the abdomen.

Lawful Texas Gun Owner Accidentally Shoots and Kills His Neighbor - No Charges

Tragedy strikes early in the year as Debra Mishler, 50, dies from an accidental gunshot wound to the abdomen.
A relative of Mishler's and another man were allegedly examining a .308 caliber rifle in their mobile home adjacent to Mishler's on Fern Hollow off State Highway 173, four miles west of Jourdanton around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday. One of the men allegedly pulled the trigger of the gun, thinking it was not loaded, inside the mobile home. The gun was loaded, says Atascosa
County Sheriff David Soward, and the bullet shot through a bathroom wall and struck the victim on her porch as she was walking into her house next door.
Sheriff Soward said Mishler was helped into a private vehicle and rushed toSouth Texas Regional Medical Center where she died while in route. "It's a classic example of someone treating a weapon as unloaded when in fact it wasn't," he added.
Sheriff Soward does not expect any charges to be filed in the incident.

Oklahoma 5-Year-old Shot - No Charges

Cherokee County sheriff’s investigators filed a report this week on the accidental shooting of a 5-year-old boy. Deputy Dexter Scott spoke to the boy’s mother this week and learned her older son had gone hunting with a friend. 

When the two finished hunting, the boys left the rifle on a bed, where the 5-year-old later found it. The woman said she was working in her office when she heard her son yelling for help. 

She went to the boy, who told her the gun had “hit” him. She noticed a bullet hole in the boy’s leg and took him to a local hospital. Medical personnel told deputies the boy will make a full recovery, and the bullet had not caused serious damage.

Mississippi Pellet Gun Death - No Charges - It Was Just an Accident

A 6-year old girl has been confirmed dead after what investigators are calling an apparent accidental shooting in her family's home in Brookhaven, Mississippi.

She was rushed to Southwest Regional Medical Center in Mccomb where she passed around 11 a.m. Wednesday morning, shortly after her 13-year old brother untimely discharged his pellet gun inside the home.

Lincoln County Sheriff Steve Rushing spoke with WLBT TV regarding the incident, and confirmed that no charges have been filed up to this point.

Florida Lawful Gun Owner Shoots Himself in the Head Celebrating the New Year

A man celebrating the New Year while playing with a gun is fighting for his life. 

An unidentified man was celebrating New Year's Eve with his family, according to Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Sgt. Brian Shore. The man was playing with a gun around midnight, when he accidentally fired it and shot himself in the head. 

The victim was transported to UF Health Jacksonville where he is currently in serious condition. No charges are pending at this time.

You know he might have had a concealed carry permit, this being Florida and all. It's really hard to tell just how bad the permit holders are.  So many incidents keep happening and no one is checking what permits and licenses the idiot gun owners have in their wallets.

Arizona Lawful Gun Owner Shoots Himself - No Charges - Of Course

A man in northwestern Arizona was sent to the hospital after accidentally shooting himself in the foot, authorities said.
The Mohave County Sheriff's Office were called to a reported shooting Friday evening in a desert area east of Lake Havasu City, which is about 155 miles south from the Las Vegas Valley.
According to the sheriff's office, deputies found 20-year-old Shane Roe with a gunshot wound. He was rushed to Havasu Regional Medical Center.
Citing evidence and witness statements, deputies said Roe was target shooting in the area with his girlfriend. When he was kneeling down for a shot, he accidentally discharged a shotgun, hitting himself in the foot, the sheriff's office said.
There was no word on the man's condition.

Chicago Woman Brings Gun to the Airport Gets Arrested

A suburban Chicago woman has been charged with boarding an aircraft with a weapon after allegedly bringing a loaded gun into Midway International Airport.
Josephine Coleman of Country Club Hills was ordered held in lieu of $25,000 on Sunday. According to police reports, the 25-year-old was arrested Saturday after allegedly putting a bag containing a loaded handgun on a Transportation Security Administration X-ray machine. Police say Coleman said she didn't realize the gun was there.
The police report states Coleman has a valid Firearm Owner's Identification card and she told police she is in the military.
