Guns Confiscated at Airports

AOL Travel published a very interesting article.

You can't walk onto a plane with a gun in your carry-on. Most people know that.

Transportation Security Administration its officers confiscate two guns per day on average at airport checkpoints around the country.

I wonder what could explain this amazing statistic. Two guns per day per checkpoint is a lot of guns. By the explanations they quoted in the article, it seems most of these folks are legal gun owners not criminals. I have two possible ideas.

1. stupidity
2. disregard for the law

Can you think of any others? Please leave a comment.

Sounds like airport employees to me.

  2. Actually, most gunloons boast about breaking the law. They do so because they know the chances of them being caught is very remote and that the penalties for breaking the law are trivial.

  3. Jade,

You'll show us evidence of your bullshit of course...

  4. FWM: Go to THR bulletin board sometime. In any given day, several poster will be bragging about how they break the law.

For example, one lives in a state where it is difficult to obtain a CCW. In this state, you are only allowed to carry a firearm in your car if you are transporting it to or from a gun range. Said gunloon boasts about keeping a gun in his car 24/7 and says he'll tell any LEO that he is on his way to the gun range.

  5. Any day where Jade or Mike gets home without choking on his own drool, or filling his pants with his own stool is a good day!

If your of such a "high" mental faculty as them, this is the best you can hope for.

    Good job boys!

  6. Ah yes, another gun control advocate that needs to learn the difference between some, many, and most. The gross exaggerations without a shred of proof (and no, one unproven anecdote from a bulletin board is not proof) that are common on this blog can be quite comical.

Uh oh! Jade is onto the dreaded "on my way to the range" loophole! Quick, get the law changed to be more restrictive! That'll increase compliance with an inane and useless law!

  9. MikeB: “Two guns per day per checkpoint is a lot of guns.”

The wording is a little vague. “two guns per day on average at airport checkpoints around the country” would mean it is totaling the country’s checkpoints. Two for the whole country would seem about right; otherwise we might be talking about tens of thousands per day.

MikeB: “1. stupidity 2. disregard for the law”

    3. Forgetfulness. It is a little different than stupidity in that smart people forget things all the time. It is a pretty big mistake though, but if someone is used to carrying a gun, and used to travelling all the time- I could see it happening when in a hurry to catch a plane.

  10. The dangers of the military industrial complex!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. Two for the whole country per day sounds low to me, but I admit the other one sounds too high. You see how difficult it is to use common sense and come up with something substantial?

  12. Its even harder when you're

    #1. Stupid and
    #2. Lazy

    As all anti-gun advocates are!

Hell you're the only one left doing this pointless game for free!
