How come the parents, or at least one of them are not in jail already? How much investigation does it take to determine the owner of the gun and to arrest that person for negligence, stupidity or good old apathy. (I realize only one of those is a crime).“As far as how he was able to get access to the weapon, that’s being investigated,” [police spokesman Sgt. Bert] Anzini said.
What's your opinion? Are they too lax with gun laws and reaction to gun incidents in Arizona? I think so. From the reporting of every incident as "the gun discharged," rather than "the gun was fired by pulling the trigger," to the reluctance to lay blame on negligent parent gun-owners when they are at fault, the whole thing is slanted towards laxity.
Of course these are usually the white gun owners who are just exercising their god-given natural-human right, the one protected by the sacred 2nd Amendment.

If only the "Eddie Eagle" program could be imparted to the fetus during the third trimester...
ReplyDeleteWay to inject some racism into the post.
ReplyDeleteNo, gun laws aren't too lax. The parents may very well be charged here. The police said that they are investigating. You always want a rush to judgement, while I want to know all the facts.
ReplyDeleteIn addition, what was the point of saying that "these are usually the white gun owners"? That wasn't specified in the news article, and I don't see the point of bring race into this.
Greg Camp:
ReplyDelete"I want to know all the facts.". Not if it looks like your side has the win, gunzloon.

When you make a comment like that, you need to address it to someone or you run the risk of being labelled as braindead.
Democommie,
ReplyDeleteMikeb302000 made an off-handed remark about white gun owners. I'm curious to know more about what that remark means.
And with regard to knowing the facts, I just said that I'm not going to rush to judgement in this case until I know everything about it. But since I don't live in that jurisdiction, it's really none of my business. I won't be serving on any jury in the case, and the local police are handling the matter.
Greg, Of course you don't want to bring race into it. I wouldn't either if I were you. Your movement is shot through with racism. That idiot in Texas a couple weeks ago wasn't an anamoly. He was representative of a huge portion of you guys.
ReplyDeleteThis:
ReplyDelete"Gun ownership was highest among middle-aged,
college- educated people of rural small-town
America. Whites were substantially more likely to
own guns than blacks, and blacks more likely than
Hispanics."
is from here (https://www.ncjrs.gov/txtfiles/165476.txt).
Mikeb302000's statement is supported by the data contained in this study.
Democommie,
ReplyDeleteThe study that you cite dealt with gun ownership in 1994. But even if it's true today, so what?
Mikeb302000,
Owning a gun is not a racist act, and my skin color didn't lead me to buy a gun. Aren't you claiming a kind of racial determinism here?
Greg Camp:
ReplyDeleteYou are thick. Check out the Knob Creek MG Shoot (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c99lGD4o7FI). At about 25 seconds into the video; nah, that's not racist, it's just good, clean fun.
Every time I watch one of the Knob Creek videos I see a lot of idiots who don't know how to properly handle automatic weapons, loves 'em some nazi paraphenalia and like to watch shit burn and blow up. I wonder what will happen when the people there finally shut it down and the state gets stuck with the cleanup--you know that's gonna be a mini superfund site what with all the lead, gasoline, motor oil, WP and whatnot that's soaked into the ground.
Some more photos:

Nope, nothin' racist here, move along, move along.
This:
"Each of the two days I attended the machine gun shoot, I was informed by Knob Creek security guards that a vendor had complained about either my asking questions ("How many swastika flags have you sold today?") or filming their inventory without permission. On Saturday afternoon, I had just finished making a short video of a row of Nazi shirts for sale when two men wearing orange security guard shirts and with handguns and handcuffs on their belts informed me that I was no longer welcome at the event. They helpfully escorted me to the exit."
is from here (http://mediamatters.org/blog/201104130021).
I can see, though, that there warn't no lynchin' gone awn.
These folks in the vids, they are your people, yes?
The diversity of the crowd, in the videos I've watched, is somewhat underwhelming.
Democommie,
ReplyDeleteI don't know what gun shows you've been attending, but I see people of all ethnic groups living in this area at the ones we have in northwest Arkansas. And I see them at gun shops. No one says to any race, "you're not welcome." The only color people care about in a capitalist system is green. (Although the money of other countries is a pretty rainbow, so rephrase as necessary.)
Since we're fond of talking about poor critical thinking on this site, have you heard of the fallacy of hasty generalization?
You point out the German items from the Second World War. I don't know why any particular individual collects those. Some may worship Hitler and the Nazis. Some may have a collection of items from the period. Some may have an interest in the history. In a free country, it's their money, regardless.
Greg Camp:
ReplyDeleteDo you do ANY fucking research before you make stupid statements like the last one? Neo-nazis are voiceferous proponents of gunzrightz. They are also racist scum.
Watch the videos, count the black and tan people, give me some numbers.
Democommie,
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm aware that many Neo-Nazis are in favor of gun ownership. I imagine that many of them also eat beef. Are you also against the cattle industry? The point that I'm making is that there is nothing racist about favoring gun rights.
As for assessing the ethnic distribution at a gun show, who cares? People go to a gun show of their own free will. Are you suggesting that we need a quota system--hold slots open to reach X percentage of attendees being of a certain race? Subsidize the purchase of guns for anyone from a particular background?
Well I had written a fairly long screed but miskeyed it into never-never land.
ReplyDeleteGreg Camp:
Black people don't, generally, feel comfortable around KKKrazeepants whites with gunz. I'm sure that you would be thrilled with the prospect of going somewhere that featured Black Panther and Islamist hatelit and a large crowd of people that believed in it.
"No, gun laws aren't too lax. The parents may very well be charged here. The police said that they are investigating. You always want a rush to judgement, while I want to know all the facts"
ReplyDeleteWell, now we have all the facts we're likely to ever get.
http://www.azcentral.com/community/surprise/articles/2011/11/14/20111114surprise-no-charges-gun-incident-boy-inured-abrk.html).
A woman that lived in an apartment complex ten miles or so from here just got sentenced to prison for leaving her 9 month old in a hot camper (http://northernny.ynn.com/content/top_stories/531586/woman-sentenced-in-baby-s-death/). Another woman, from the same area got sentenced to 90 days in the house of correction for leaving her child alone in an apartment that subsequently caught fire (
that last comment was unfinished.
ReplyDeleteThe second example is here (http://www.9wsyr.com/news/local/story/Jail-time-for-woman-who-left-infant-in-apartment/WDSqYjfI_EC31kRDhJPG0Q.cspx)
In one case a child died, in the other, the child was saved by a passerby. In both cases the mother was found responsible, tried and convicted.
In the case of the Surprise, AZ shooting, no charges are filed? And I'm betting that some local biblethumper is citing the incident as proof that GOD loves his humans.
Democommie,
ReplyDeleteI would have no problem going to a convention center filled with Black Panthers and Islamists, so long as everyone there behaved in a manner similar to what I've seen at gun shows. The shows are always crowded, and yet there's never any rudeness. No one gets shoved. No one gets cursed at. It could be that I've just been lucky, but I went to many when I lived in Tennessee, and I've been to several here in Arkansas. The same has been true in gun stores.
With regard to the parents, it may be that they deserve to be charged with child endangerment. Or it could be that this was simply an accident. When I'm invited to judge the case, I'll seek more answers.
"have no problem going to a convention center filled with Black Panthers and Islamists, so long as everyone there behaved in a manner similar to what I've seen at gun shows.
ReplyDeleteA safe bet to make since the next time that happens will be first. Seriously, find me a place and time when that's happened. The authorities would go batshit if the black panthers and islamists had a gun show. Oh, wait, you din't think that's what I was suggesting? You thought I meant just something like, I don't know, a street fair with polite people handing out their brochures. No, homes, I'm talkin' bout a shitload of armed muslims and black folks, doin' their political free speech thing--y'know like the neo-nazis and other white supremacists that congregate at Knob Creek.
"With regard to the parents, it may be that they deserve to be charged with child endangerment. Or it could be that this was simply an accident."
It is almost an article of faith with the gunzloonz that any time something bad happens with kids and guns or other home-based stupidity that it's an "accident". It's not an accident; it's an avoidable situation that occurs because of negligence.
My kids don't know how lucky they are.
ReplyDeleteDemocommie,
ReplyDeleteYou're the one who keeps implying racism in me. I keep saying that I have no problem with anyone of any race or ethnic group owning guns. If a mosque wants to hold a gun show, I'll be there to support it, and I'll object to anyone who want to stop it from happening. There are plenty of good Americans who are also Muslim. The same is true about any race or ethnic group or religion that you care to name.
