Iran is a Threat

Each star on this map marks the location of a military base of the United States - in Turkey, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, other Gulf states, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and into the ...stans. The blue in the center (not well distinguished from the Caspian Sea and other water) is Iran.

[I]magine if the blue in that map were the U.S... and the large red areas were Mexico and Canada... and the stars represented Iranian military bases. Then further imagine that Iranian political leaders and media figures routinely told their population that it was the U.S. that was an aggressive, threatening power that had to be stopped: the mocking condemnations of that level of propaganda would be endless. Yet American political officials and commentators feel free to insist, with a straight face, that Iran is an aggressor nation posing a serious threat to the U.S.: such a serious threat, in fact, that war may be necessary to stop it.

Let me be quite clear here; I'm not saying that the Iranian leadership are good guys. I'm just using the graphic to show that there might be reasons for them to feel threatened.

  1. I think the invasion of Iraq was part of a plan to encircle Iran. Didn't really work out as planned.

  2. So terrorism, developing nuclear weapons against signed treaties, and threatening to wipe a nation off the map is of no consequence?

    1. Don't be such a naive hypocrite, Greg. The US does worse than that on a continual basis.

    2. I understand why Iran does what it does. We're all acting out of our own perception of what is in our best interest. It is in America's best interest to keep Iran from gaining nuclear weapons.

  3. Iran was a threat before those bases were there.

Seriously? I see you have bought the government propaganda hook, line & sinker. You seem to be like most of the Republican 'Israel First' candidates.
Iran supports the Palestinian freedom fighters who were displaced by the terrorism involved in creating the Jewish state.
Then we have committed acts of war on Iran with sanctions, and in cahoots with the Israelis, assassinated civilian scientists. But, we shouldn't really be surprised since we have assassinated our own citizens with drone attacks.
And should it be a big surprise that like N Korea, Israel did not sign the NPT.
Supposedly bin Laden was a terrorist, after the US was done supporting him in Afghanistan. Kinda like Saddam Hussein was a bad guy after we supported him in his war with Iran.
The US gave the nuclear technology and helped Iran get started in that business over 50 years ago after they installed the brutal dictator the Shah.
Who wiped who off the map? And what does that actually mean? I was reading Mark Twain's Innocent's Abroad the other day. It was about the first cruise to the Holy Land and Palestine as well as ports in Europe. Do you see Palestine on the map today, or was it wiped off the map?
Yeah, great idea, let's go kill some more innocent people that have done us no harm.

The US supports Saudi Arabia where the terrorist who flew planes into the Twin Towers came from? Your point is?

  6. Orlin, now I'm confused. Who's side are you on? Are you one of these gun-loving government haters? That way we agree on half.
