I invite Coyote to move to Arkansas. The gun dealer makes a phone call, and as long as the bureaucrat on the other end says yes, the buyer takes the gun with him that day. He could even get a carry license here, whereas he'd have no chance in New Jersey. But to answer his question, private sellers can't run a background check. We don't have access to the system. In addition, many of us like having guns that have no paperwork. We aren't planning a revolution or anything criminal, but the fact that it pisses off gun control advocates gives us particular enjoyment.
1) What evidence do you have to show that a significant number of private transactions involve one party who cannot legally own a gun and one who can? (We all know criminals buy and sell guns among themselves, so that's not at issue)
2) Why do people have a problem with law-abiding citizens trading legal merchandise between themselves?
Dan, What evidence do you have that you're not just breaking balls when you ask for evidence where you know none exists?
Think about it and put aside your bias. Guns used in crime start out legally owned by somebody. One of the ways they slip into the criminal world is through private sales with no background check. The others are straw purchases and theft.
Do you really need proof to agree that this is a problem?

Too bad you ran off DemoCommie with your liberal commenting policy. I am sure he would argue that statements deemed to be facts without citations to data are just bullshit.

DeleteYou mean MOST of you aren't.
As he said himself, "I really don't know much about the gunshow loophole".
ReplyDeleteI agree with him, he doesn't.
On the contrary, I thought he had a pretty good grasp of the subject.
DeleteMike, I don't think you have proven to know much about it either. Have you ever been to a gun show?
