Goddard's sound bite neglects the facts. We are one of the safest countries in the world. We are similar to other first world nations.
I've shown you many times that gun laws don't correlate with rates of violence. Cultural and economic factors are far more important. But why should facts and logic matter?
Our murder rate is below five per 100,000. As I've shown you many times, we're far lower than several countries with strict gun laws--South Africa and Russia, for example. The Czech Republic, a nation with gun laws much like ours, has a rate of 1.7 per 100,000. Within our borders, Puerto Rico has some of the strictest gun laws, but also the second highest murder rate. Know what has the highest? D.C. Vermont and New Hampshire are at the bottom of the states, and their gun laws are excellent. Iowa, Utah, and Minnesota are the next three--all with gun laws similar to the bottom two.
He needs to explain places like Mexico, and Brazil. Much stronger gun control than we have, and much more violence (and gun violence) than exists in the U.S.
What, you mean that more guns does not equal less crime, but fewer guns doesn't either? Must be something else causing it then.
Because our lawmakers lack the courage to try and fix some of the root causes of our problems.
ReplyDeleteYeah, and they lack the courage to fix the gun availability part of the problem too. But, that may be changing.

"We are similar to other first world nations." Greg, are you out of your mind? Do you think you can say anything at all in support of your nonsense?

DeleteWhy is it that your side can't interpret data?
As expected, no one from the gun control side wants to address the lack of correlation between gun laws and gun violence.
DeleteNor does he try to explain how crime is falling as more guns are purchased and restrictions eased everywhere.
ReplyDeleteI guess those aspects are just a little too inconvenient for him.
Wherever crime is falling, it would be falling much much more if we adopted reasonable gun laws.
DeleteSpeculation is not proof, Mikeb.

On the other side of that, if guns are so dangerous, why is our overall crime rates continuing to fall?
ReplyDeleteHey another 4 killed in Colorado with a gun! Must be because of Feminist stuff and god!!! FREEDOM!!!!
