Why has the NRA Gone Silent? - It's not Like Them

 MSNBC reports
The National Rifle Association’s social media accounts have gone dark following the massacre at Sandy Hook School in Newtown, Conn.

Since the tragic shooting Friday, the NRA has declined to comment, rejecting invitations to speak from MSNBC and other networks. That media blackout extends to the powerful gun lobby’s social media accounts: The group has gone silent on Twitter, suspending the NRA’s 10 days of Christmas giveaway, and un-published its Facebook page.
When have loud mouths like Wayne La Pierre or NRA board member Ted Nugent been silent about anything?

It seems the only people who have had anything to say are a couple politicians who are changing sides in the AWB debate.

The rest of them are rightfully ashamed and embarrassed for the role they've played in tragedies like Connecticut.

What's your opinion?  Please leave a comment.

    1. I don't see why anyone talks to that pompous tosser. He's welcome to return to Britain if he doesn't like things here.

I'll ask again Mike, who is "THEM"?

    1. I should say, the ones who are not changing sides but who are silent. I realize there are many who have been anything but silent. Faced with their own culpability and inextricable involvement in these mass shootings, many gun-rights fanatics double down on their nonsensical talking points, first and foremost is that it's the fault of the gun free zone.

Which group are you in J.O.B.?

    2. I wasn't even in Connecticut at the time. But we know that you have a problem assigning blame where it belongs.

    3. Mikeb, what exactly should the NRA say?

It is pathetic that your side is dancing with glee over a tragedy you can use to promote your sick agenda.

    4. I wasn't in CT and none of my firearms were there...I'm not embarassed or ashamed...I'm pissed off that those children were at the mercy of a madman for *20 minutes* before help got there..but by all means continue to blame the big bad gun..

  5. I expect that the NRA will be working with our true allies in the House and the Senate to make sure none of this talk goes anywhere.

    1. Says the person who boldly flings insults behind a pseudonym better suited to a comic book villain.

  7. They went silent for the same reason most people do: they had nothing to say.

    Glad they finally realized it.

    1. The NRA has plenty to say. The organization will choose the time and place to say it, just as we who value our rights are having our own say. The control freak side just wants everyone to sing along to their tune or shut up.
