More about the Connecticut School Shooting

The Chicago Tribune reports with video of the medical examiner's statement.

The mystery deepened as Newtown education officials said they had found no link between Lanza's mother and the school, contrary to news reports that said she was a teacher there. Investigators said they believe Adam Lanza attended Sandy Hook Elementary many years ago, but they had no explanation for why he went there on Friday.

Lanza shot and killed his mother, Nancy Lanza, at the home they shared, then drove to the school in her car with at least three of her guns, forced his way inside and opened fire in two classrooms, authorities said. Within minutes, he killed 20 children, six adults and himself.

On Saturday, Chief Medical Examiner Dr. H. Wayne Carver said all the victims at the school were killed up close with a rifle and were shot more than once. All six adults killed at the school were women. Of the 20 children, eight were boys and 12 were girls. All the children were 6 or 7 years old.
So, his mother did not work at the school, but he himself had been a student there.  Also, contrary to earlier reports, a long gun was used.

  1. He shot at least 100 bullets, perhaps 150. Where in the 2nd Amendment is that required?

    1. Where in the Second Amendment is the number of rounds of ammunition that I may own limited? But more importantly, have you ever practiced with a gun at a range? One hundred to 150 rounds is a typical day for me. The same is true for many gun owners. Many others don't practice much, their guns being for home defense only.

Are you implying that you'd limit the number of rounds that all of us can have because one nutcase did something wrong?

    2. The second amendment was written by men in like 1788 or something. It wasn't handed down by God to Moses.

Oh wait, one of the commandments is relevant.

Thou shalt not kill. Or "Thou shalt not murder" as interpreted by those who favor warfare and executions.

Forgot about the law of God, didn't you? It remains a spiritual problem. I know it sounds liberal-bleeding-heart and all that, but it is up to us a nation to prevent the spiritual sickness and emptiness that afflict so many of the young today. Am I wrong? It seems to me that the mass murderers of today range from teenage, (Colombine) to early twenties, (Loughner, Virginia Tech, McVeigh) McVeigh was a little older, but his life was interrupted by military service. They bear no resemblance whatsoever to the sick and twisted serial killers of infamy. They are disenfranchised. They feel that life has nothing left to give them.

I know, boo-fucking-hoo. But you bastards know I'm right.

EN What the fuck are you talking about screening autism-spectrum children? Crawl under a rock.

Orlin, This is all just a romp for you. You're part of the sick culture.

    3. Flying Junior, I agree with you that culturally, the nation has problems. We have a culture of dependency, of whining, of entitlement without responsibility, and of a declining moral center. Those are all hard problems to correct. Gun control advocates pick on one thing and call their solutions the magic bullet, but infringing on the rights of good people never stops bad people from doing evil.

That being said, I don't think that the problem is as bad as it's made out to be. Improving our educational system and working to reduce poverty and strengthen the middle class are measures that will make life better. The rest is up to all of us individually.

    5. Well said Greg,

I think I come in a little bit to the left to be sure. But I like your second paragraph. Nothing like going to church to gain some perspective.

    6. Orlin,

I don't see abortion as a political football or blog fun.

Everyone wants to minimize abortions. I definitely oppose teenage abortions without parental consent.

    7. Flying Junior, my primary concern on this blog is individual rights. If politicians of both parties would value those, we could have a much more rational government. Given the corruption in the Democrats and the Republicans these days, we probably need to replace them with the Greens and the Libertarians.

    8. FJ, that's a cop-out and inconsistent. Either you value life or you don't.

"What I find most disturbing about the Connecticut shooting is that it reveals an essential truth about this country: people are only outraged because it was a massacre that was not sanctioned by the state.

If 18 children were murdered in a Pakistani schoolhouse by a drone, no one in the media would report it and just about everyone would go about their lives not caring. Statism has a horrifically dehumanizing effect on how we perceive other human beings that aren't American."

  2. This does weaken your idea that the mass shooter goes to a place of his grievance. He may have had lingering resentments from elementary school, but he certainly did pick a gun-free zone.

  5. We are going to limit the rounds that gunsuck murderers like Camp can fire. He seems to believe in his gunsuck sick mind that inconvenience requires that we allow sick gunsucks to fire 150 rounds in 20 minutes.

We are not required to bow down to gunsuck "logic" that convenience requires easy access to fast shooting. This is NOT required.

STOP LISTENING TO MENTALLY ILL GUNSUCKS LIKE CAMP.

    1. Cowardly Anonymous:

      1. I have not murdered anyone. You are committing libel by suggesting otherwise. No wonder you post anonymously.

      2. One hundred fifty rounds in twenty minutes? That's 7.5 rounds a minute. That's about twice the rate of a muzzle-loading rifle in the hands of someone who practices, and it would be easy to do with a bolt-action gun.

      3. What will you do when the control freaks come after a right that you care about?

  6. "Flying Junior, my primary concern on this blog is individual rights"

Bullshit. Your primary and nearly exclusive concern on this blog, since you first stumbled on it, has been YOUR INALIENABLE RIGHT to gunz. When you aren't whining about other people making fun of your fantasies, you're bloviating about the "Individual right" and the absolute, limitless guarantees of the only Amendment that you and your gunzloonz palz give a shit about.

I know it goes against your nature, but try to not be a lying sack of shit.

    1. You call me a lying sack of shit, but then you confirm what I said? Are you even capable of hearing your own words?

By the way, you just made a false statement. How many times have I declared my support for the rights of gays and women here? How often have I expressed my support for freedom of speech and religion? Let's see, what's another term for a falsehood...

  7. "You call me a lying sack of shit, but then you confirm what I said? Are you even capable of hearing your own words?"

Greggie, just pretend for a moment that I, like you, have no idea wtf that sentence means. Apparently you missed the bolded part:

    "YOUR INALIENABLE RIGHT".

"By the way, you just made a false statement. How many times have I declared my support for the rights of gays and women here? How often have I expressed my support for freedom of speech and religion? Let's see, what's another term for a falsehood..."

You really wanna go there, Greggie?

You've made several thousand comments on this blog (a rough guess) and I'm not thinking the %age of comments re: other people's rights approach 10% of the total. And when you do talk about the 1st Amendment it's generally in the context of comparing your precious right to be able to be armed to the teeth with someone else's right to speak their mind.

Not sure what you are saying here. Both of those rights are inalienable, so I can only assume you are just venting your hate filled bile as usual. Maybe you should take a break, stand in the sunshine and enjoy a beautiful day. Hate will eat you up, if it hasn't already.
