Kansas Republican Calls the First Lady "Mrs. YoMamma" and Prays for the President's Death

Think Progress

ThinkProgress reported last week that Kansas House Speaker Mike O’Neal (R) was forced to apologize to First Lady Michelle Obama after forwarding an email to fellow lawmakers that called her “Mrs. YoMama” and compared her to the Grinch.

Earlier that same week, the Lawrence Journal-World was sent another email that O’Neal had forwarded to House Republicans that referred to President Obama and a Bible verse that says “Let his days be few” and calls for his children to be without a father and his wife to be widowed.

Nick Sementelli at Faith in Public Life notes that Psalm 109, which is a prayer for the death of a leader, became a popular conservative meme after Obama’s election. The “tongue-in-cheek” prayer for the president was seen on bumper stickers. The relevant part of the psalm reads:
Let his days be few; and let another take his office
May his children be fatherless and his wife a widow.
May his children be wandering beggars; may they be driven from their ruined homes.
May a creditor seize all he has; may strangers plunder the fruits of his labor.
May no one extend kindness to him or take pity on his fatherless children.
O’Neal forwarded the prayer with his own message: “At last — I can honestly voice a Biblical prayer for our president! Look it up — it is word for word! Let us all bow our heads and pray. Brothers and Sisters, can I get an AMEN? AMEN!!!!!!”

  1. Funny how you both blame guns for suicide. You two seem to have much in common. http://www.youtube.com/user/stopgunviolence

But Mike if you can't follow the simple rules of Face Book. What makes you think criminals will obey gun laws. https://www.facebook.com/mike.beard.37604?fref=ts

He also talks about how they were found by religiosit people. Well my Latin is not very good. "Arma virumque cano (et alia)" That's on top of your blogs meaning, I sing a song to praise he who comes from the heavens.

    1. Nope. The Latin quotation is the opening line of The Aeneid: Of arms and the man I sing. Mikeb--not Mike Beard--adds, (and other things).

  4. I'm glad Repukelicans keep praying instead of doing something useful. The only Americans who vote for Republicans are Racists and the Rich.

    1. So close to half the country is comprised of racists and rich people? What's the percentage of each?

    2. Oh Campy that's an easy question to answer: the ratios are 99% and 1%. Enjoy your bigotry!

    3. To Gene I pose a question:

Where Eisenhower and Nixon racists? Certainly not. Much of the civil rights legislation which guarantees equality today was authored by Richard Nixon while he was still a junior senator from California. Chief Justice Earl Warren, who was himself a member of the GOP and was appointed by Eisenhower, was able to convince the dissenting associate justices into joining the majority in Brown v. Board of Education, and ensuring a unanimous decision, with no backwards dissent.

It is because of backwards fools like yourself, that Black GOP candidates (or appointees) are not taken seriously. Clarence Thomas can't get a word in edgewise without incessant ridicule from leftist pseudo-racist shills.

With reference to your claims of class warfare, it should be noted that the Clinton Administration oversaw much of the economic deregulation (such as the repeal of Glass-Steagall) and that the wealthy JFK oversaw the largest tax reduction in U.S. history, and that Eisenhower, Nixon, and Ford never imposed any tax reductions on wealthier Americans.

    4. Gene, if you're taking your cues from the Occupy bums, I can see why you're light on facts and reasoning. But do tell, what exactly do you see as "my bigotry"? Be specific. I get tired of your side's vague assertions without evidence.
